Other than 15 sq ft and the inn room having a 2nd queen bed vs the studio's sleeper sofa, what's the difference btw these 2 type of rooms? DVC points are the same for an ocean view inn room and a studio. This'll be our first trip to VB - 2 adults and a 6 year old.

thanks!

ocean views are guaranteed with the inn rooms - they are not with the studios

you can get a garden view inn room for less.

This is exactly the question I was about to post. I've been working on our trip to VB for a month or more now. The rooms available were a studio (which I booked) or an Ocean View Inn room. I really wanted a 1BR, but none are available.

Does anyone know any more about the layout differences between the Inn room and the Studio? Does the Inn room have a balcony? Does the Inn room have any kitchette facilities (fridge, micro, etc). Does the Inn room have daily trash and towel like a typical hotel room?

Any information would be cherished!

I'm going to move this the DVC Planning board for you....you'll find lots of VB experts there. :)

I would also like to hear from some experts, or at least get to a VB lovers thread of some kind. From what I can see on the floor plans, VB studio looks just like OKW. The inn rooms also appear to have the kitchen sink at least. Don't know about the rest of the kitchenette facilities. I would imagine that at least a fridge is there. The balcony looks a little larger aswell.

For the same points, if the inn has a nicer view guaranteed or is closer to the pool perhaps, it would be nice to know. I like the idea of the sleeper couch though, so we can have more floor space during the daytime.

Where are those VB experts??:worship:

I also meant to ask if the Inn rooms are in a different (noisier?) part of the resort than the DVC area? I actually like the idea of 2 beds, since with the 3 of us, someone always ends up on the generally uncomfortable sleeper sofa.

By the way (IMHO) - I think Disney really blew it by building all these properties with only one bed and pullout sofas - almost every 1BR we've stayed at (except OKW) has a King bed and a pullout. For such a nice resort and room, I really hate to end my day trying to find comfort on a 2 inch thick mattress on top of coiled springs. But, that's the subject for another post.....sorry :rolleyes1

We stayed in the Inn room and had the micro, sink and fridge plus a balcony. The best part was that there was a view of the ocean. One time the room had a bed and pull out sofa with a larger floor plan than the typical hotel floor plan (rectangle) with two beds. That room was in the center corner of the Inn. I haven't stayed in a studio. We had no problem with noise and we were above the lobby.

The Inn rooms are in the "Inn", which is the main building and resembles a hotel setting. There are OVIRs and GVIRs. O is for ocean and G is for Garden. The majority of OVIRs are facing the ocean, but there are some units on each end of the Inn building that don't directly face the ocean, and have an off to the side view. The units on the south end of the building over look the pool and can be noisy during the day. The lifeguards and poolside bar/grille CMs leave at 8 pm so it gets quiet real quick.

The physical layout between the studio and inn rooms are generally similar. The Inn room has two queen beds whereas the studio has a king bed and a pull-out sofa.

Kitchen and bath amenities are the same. Kitchenettes have a bar sink, microwave, small fridge, and a toaster.

Traveling to and from the Inn room requires going through the lobby. The Inn has indoor access to Shutter's, Sonya's, and the Green Cabin room. Sometimes waiting for the elevators in the Inn can be a bit frustrating. The second floor has the optional staircase that we prefer to use when not lugging things around.

The studios in the villa buildings are served by stairs and elevators.

The pool area is not directly accesible from the Inn building, you must go outside and walk around to it. This is a small resort and the walk time to the pool is no more than a minute more from the closest to the furthest walk.

The laundry in the villa buildings is in the garage area and the laundry in the Inn is on the fourth floor (more desirable in my opinion). However, the laundry in the inn serves more people per machine than the villa buildings and it is more likely you will have to wait for a machine.

The balconies in the studios have see through bars. A handful of inn rooms have balconies with a closed front so you cannot view downwards when you are seated.

The villa buildings are actually all 2 bdrm units. Most are lock-off, which means they convert into a 1-bdrm and a studio. I would guess that maybe 20% of the studios have some sort ocean view. The villas have a lot of tall vegetation around them so it differs from villa to villa.

Parking for the Inn is totally garaged (under the building), which is nice on hot summer and rainy days. The villas have garage parking too, but (and I am guessing) only enough for 50% of the units. The rest of villa parking is in adjacent outdoor parking.

That is about all I can think of at the moment. VB is a special place and the room location and views can be very special, but you will find out that this little resort packs a whole lot of experience and is fun for couples and families alike.

Nice summary Rob!

VB is a small resort. When it is just DW and me, I prefer the Inn rooms, but you'll be happy with whatever is available.

Rob,
Thank you for the extensive reply. We've been to VB twice, once off property and once in a fantastic 1BR. It was our first stay in a 1BR and I still remember walking in and being blown away by the layout and the view of the ocean. I slept on the pull out and listened to the waves crashing all night. We have a 1BR on waitlist (Feb 17-19) and the OVIR reserved. Does anyone know if the Inn rooms offer daily trash and towel (like a regular hotel)?
Thanks again,
Larry

Yes, but only on a cash basis. If you are a DVC member, staying on points, the usual housekeeping system for members applies. If you make a reservation using cash, you will get the non-member style service.
