The Guidebook has ocean view rooms listed for Deluxe Inn rooms only. Does that mean that no other room configurations have ocean views? Or is the view something that you request but they are unable to guarantee?

Also, VB is widely regarded as one of the wealthiest communities in the state. Many such Florida communities are not great destinations for families with small children (ages 9-11). What types of activities are available for families (near the property)? Is there enough to do in order to keep kids occupied for 5-6 days?

Your thoughts are most appreciated. Thanks.

If you book an Inn Ocean View room, then you are guaranteed an ocean view. If you book a studio, 1br or 2br villa then I think all you can do is request the ocean view but it is not guaranteed. Of course, you get an ocean view in the beach cottages.

We have never found VB to be stuffy or snotty. You can see some of the million dollar homes on the way in to the resort but we find VB to be a pretty normal, friendly town with your usual mix of locals and snowbirds and all the stuff you would find anywhere else in Florida-Publix, hotels, schools, expensive restaurants, cheap restaurants, local hangouts that have been around for years.

We stayed in Deerfield Beach a few years ago and that was more stuffy than VB. For example, VB is very laid back, everyone is having fun, is relaxed. We always walk around in shorts, or back up to our room wrapped up in our beach towels. In Deerfield Beach we were sitting by the pool and every single woman had full make-up on, high heels, tons of jewelry. We felt kind of out of place.

There are tons of activities at the resort and in VB to keep a family busy for weeks-IMHO. Most of the time, we don't even leave the resort when we are there.

I have yet to stay in an Inn room, so I can't speak to that...

But.. there are plenty of activities for kids both in the resort and out of it, so I wouldn't worry.. My family almost never leaves the resort

They have shuffleboard, mini golf, bike rental, games to borrow, swimming, the waterslide, Bingo, Child SnorkelEARS, and various other excursions and activities to keep kids busy onsite...

Offsite... Plenty of shopping, movie theater, nice restaurants, Publix, and Super-Walmart down the road..

The Disney resort at Vero is pretty self-contained and is geared to have lots of activities for the children. If they didn't have this mindset it very easily could have been the type of "adult" resort you describe...putting in more spa services and fewer Unbirthday Parties!

The resort is located in a residential millionaire's row area but there are activities in the area for children as well....not Disney World but a fun family vacation. The shops along the beach area are probably not all that kid-friendly but I also don't think they would hold that much interest for kids. They would be happier shopping at the mall or the outlet center.

We had a 1 bed-room on the third floor of building 15 last weekend. It had a great ocean view.
