Is the slide at VB a tube slide? Do they have the ski vests there? DS(3) is not a strong swimmer and loves the big slides. I know they do not allow the ski vests on the tube slides(ie SAB).

The slide is a half tube slide, if that makes any sense. The tube is not covered or enclosed like the one at HH but is open. It is 3 stories high and a lot of fun. Our 4 year old girl was a little scared at first but had a great time after her 1st run.

The hardest part for a 3 year old is going to be the 3 story climb to the top.

They do loan out vest at the rental counter and you can use them on the slide.

Thanks,
That is what I wanted to hear. Look out VB here we come. Anyone else going to be there nights ofJuly 3 & 4. We are me DW DD(7) and DS(3).

One limiting factor, only one person at one time. You cannot slide down with your little one. I miss that, had a lot of fun before that became a rule.

He has no problem going down alone. I will be allowed to go as well right??? I hope so I'm just a BIG kid I like slides too.

Ditto here with regard to being a big kid. I also LOVE the waterslides. My favorite now is the volcano slide at the Poly. It is great!!! We haven't been to VB yet, but that spiral slide does look fun!!!

When going down the slide at Vero (and I am sure other long slides at Disney) make sure that everyone understands and follows the rule about going down in a sitting (or reclining) position feet first. On our last trip to Vero, a lifeguard mentioned that people sometimes go down the slide on their stomach, feet first. This is VERY dangerous as sometimes their toenails get caught on the ribs of the slide. You can imagine how painful it would be to lose a toenail that way!!! I cringe every time I see someone go down in the wrong position, and go down the slide in the wrong position quite often. As long as the slide rules are followed it is a VERY fun and safe slide. Just thought I would pass along the warning.

A great thing the lifeguards do at the top of the slide is to throw a bucket of water on top of the person as they round the first bend!!!! My DD's absolutely love that! Don't worry, if you don't want them to they won't...I'm talking from personal experience!!!!!

Enjoy!!

Sounds like we are going to have fun. I'm starting to wish I'd taken the rest of the week off.

I think you guys are gonna love VB and the pool! I am a BIG wimp and am not a super strong swimmer but even I like the slide! It wasn't that scary--DH laughed at me for being afraid! :D VB is a great place and yes, you will wish that you had taken the whole week off! ;) ENJOY!!!

Be sure to use the pool between 5 and 7 PM. Especially for couples there without kids. It will almost be completely empty. Each time we go the pool clears out around dinner time. We love having that huge pool to ourselves.

Jag- I'll be there with my husband, 20 year old son, 16 year old son and 82 year old grandma. We went same time last year and had a great time. At Vero on the weekend there is a DJ and a lot happening around the pool area. They also have the DJ on the 4th. There are lots of games etc for little kids. We had a great time. They also had a special all American meal in Shutters that was really good- ribs, corn on the cob, a special firecracker dessert. We did see some local fireworks from our balcony but they weren't really much to see. (Especially if you are used to Disney fireworks!) On a side note, we returned from Disneyland in CA not too long ago and their fireworks show (Believe in Magic) is just the best I have seen. I hope they bring it to WDW. Get to the pool early on those days if you want a chair. It will be crowded.

I agree get a chair early!!
Unfortunately you can not get a chair at 9am!
They are all gone even though no people are there yet!!

The day we were checking out we brought the paper and coffee to the pool to relax before we started home and couldn't find a seat.
We finally invaded a table that had a few possessions on it and when we were ready to leave the owners still hadn't arrived.

My health club has a rule -- unoccupied chairs will have the items reserving them placed in the lost and found after 20 minutes. Sure Disney would not go that far but adding chairs or helping people find chairs seems appropriate!!!
