We are trying to go to VB during the first week of April (gotta wait for Member Services to open after MLK Day) and are wondering how cold the water will be. Some research indicates 70degrees. Does that sound right?

I know that the Atlantic is colder than the Gulf but our "Northener" kiddies would like to play in the ocean if possible.

Also, I would like to find a map of the property on the internet. When I go to the DVC member site, I can't find VB in the list of DVC properties. Can anybody help me?

There's a map of the property in the Member Guidebook. Here's the link for Vero from the DVC website.

70 degrees for the ocean sounds possible. The Gulf Stream is located just off the coast at Vero and Vero is at the beginning of the tropical area of Florida. Air temps are also likely to be warm in April as well as though you could still hit a cool day or two.

I was in Vero last April and the ocean temperature was in the 72 - 74 degrees range. I should also warn you that I have been to Vero on three occaisions during April and on all trips the surf was extremely heavy. Way to rough for little ones! Even wading up to their knees was too dangerous because of the under tow.

Enjoy your trip

Thanks for the info!

Our DD wants to go to a beach for our next trip and I am not thrilled with any of the regular tourist spots. (Spring break in Florida with a cute 16 yr old would be quite nerve-wrecking!) We have always wanted to try VB and thought that this would be a good chance.

Even when we were in Hawaii, our kids did not enjoy playing in the ocean. Too salty. They both loved to walk in the ankle deep water but swam in the pool. By living in a northern state, VB air temps and clean beaches sound great. Being a parent, a private beach sounds safer. While April is not a prime time to visit VB, it stil sounds good.

We were at VB last April and going again this April. 70 degrees is right in the range. I do agree eith the earlier post that the surf was a heavy. See you at the beach.

:D :D

Actually, March-April is the "season" for Vero! In the summer months many of the folks are gone to their houses in CT or the "summer homes" on the Cape, Newport, etc. ;)

While the beach isn't "private"....Florida beaches are open to everyone....it sure feels like a private getaway.

Oh, and there aren't any wild high school/college kids Spring Breaking in Vero....senior here means 65+.
