Forgive how this sounds. I'm not trying to work the system, but have the system work for me. Would it be possible to check out of Vero Beach, drive to OKW or one of the resorts there, and check my luggage? I didn't realize the Vero Beach didn't have a luggage check in, and our flight doesn't leave until 4 in the afternoon.

A little confused here....you want to stay at Vero Beach, but you want your luggage to go to OKW?

Sounds to me to be more hastle than it is worth. Instead of relaxing at VB for the morning, you'd have to rush to OKW, then double back to the airport.

Are you trying to use Magical Express to go home from VB?

Would seem it would be easier to just check your own luggage in for the 115 miles of driving, or even if you were flying in and out of MCO, the back tracking you'd need to do.

I didn't realize it would be backtracking. I thought since we are flying out of Orlando it would be on the way more or less. I'm just spoiled with being able to check our luggage in on the last morning and be free for the rest of the day until our flight. I've never gone back to the airport from Vero Beach. This is our first time at Vero Beach. I'm just a little nervous about how long it will take us to get back to Orlando and how long it will take to check the luggage. I thought maybe it would be easier to check it in at OKW and then go to Downtown Disney or something. And then to the airport not worrrying about checking luggage in.

It's about a 90--110 min drive to Orlando airport from Disney's VB resort. Allow yourself 15-20 min to return rental car and walk into terminal and then another 20-30 min to check your luggage. We usually fly SW and they do seem to have the longest check-in lines (though they tend to move quickly) and their check-in area is about the furthest walk inside the terminal. But when flying in and out of Orlando, we always like to get to the airport at least 2 hours prior to our scheduled flight. We have arrived at the airport 90 min prior to our flight before, but we sweated it out a bit. So I don't like to do that.

I feel checking your luggage in at OKW would be more of a hassle. And I'm not even sure you could, since you didn't stay there ? I'd call OKW (or any other wdw resort) and check on this if this is what you decide to do. Good luck.

OKW is about 30 minutes beyond the airport. Luggage has to be checked in at the resort three hours prior to your flight (that's how it was in March).

I'm still confused. How are you getting to WDW after Vero Beach? There is no Magical Express from Vero. Are you using a car service?...or renting a car? If you have a rental car why not just leave your luggage in it while you visit Downtown Disney? If you are using a car service I'd possibly re-think that and rent a car for your stay. VB is in the middle of nowhere and it's really nice to have a car when you stay there. Otherwise you will be stuck at the resort for your entire time there.

Also, if you check your luggage at OKW (if that is even possible) you'll have to go back there to get it before you head to the airport. How are you planning to get to the airport from WDW? You can't use ME if you haven't stayed on property so, again, you'd need a car service or rental car. I guess I just don't get it.

Finally, to get to WDW from VB you will have to pass the Orlando airport and continue on another 25-30 minutes. The airport is between WDW and VB. Although it is closer to WDW, it's not that close.

I *think* the OP wants to be able to do the airport luggage check-in so they can shop at DD and just forget about having to get back to the airport and allowing extra time to stand in line to check their bags. But honestly, I don't think the OP willl be able to do the wdw resort luggage checkin because I always thought you had to be staying in wdw to use that perk ? I suggested the OP call OKW and ask. Not sure if they did. I also think the OP has a rental and isn't even interested in ME. I thnk they just want the no-hassle perk of having WDW take their luggage to the airport for them. Can't blame them....I just don't think it's possible.

You are exactly right. And we do have a rental car. I've waitlisted for the last day at boardwalk (10/23) so we could check our bags in with the airline on the 24th at the hotel, but I don't have high hopes of that happening. We'll just take our chances I guess and leave plenty of time. I just hate waiting around at the airport. The seats aren't that comfortable, and there's not much to do that doesn't involve just reading, eating or shopping. Thanks for your responses!

I agree.....but if I'd have to sit around in any airport, Orlando is one of the nicer ones. Like I said, normally we're at the airport about 2 hours prior to flight. By the time we return our rental car and check our luggage, it's maybe only about 70 min that we have to kill time. And 10-15 min of that can be just getting through security.

I know it's not much consolation, but I've been stranded in Philadelphia airport. Now that is one boring, blah airport.........;) I wish you luck on your BWV waitlist !!!

Could you stop off at the airport on the trip from VB to WDW and go ahead and check in for your flight, but not go through security? Your bags would be checked in for your flights, you'd have your boarding passes and ready to go through security after a short trip to WDW.

Ah. No, you can't do this. You must be staying at a WDW resort to use ME and you must be using ME to check your bags so it isn't possible.

Someone else mentioned stopping off at the airport and checking your bags before going to WDW. Be aware that they will only accept your bags 3-4 hours (can't remember which) before your flight time.

If it were me I'd just leave your bags in the rental car and check them in when you get to the airport. I guess I'm still unclear as to why you'd go out of your way to check your bags when you have a car to keep them in and can easily check them yourself at the airport.

Unless they have changed the policy this is not true. Every time we stay at a DVC resort, we go right after check out and check our bags into the airline. Its like the sky cap at the airport. We have never used ME. We've done it at OKW, SSR, BCV, and VWL. Then we can choose to swim in the pool, go to the parks, shop, whatever. And then we just drive to the airport and our luggage is already there. All we need to do is go through security.

As previuos posters have said the drive to the airport is about 90 mins give or take 15 mins with your speed and traffic. .....

Personally I hate airports! I have spent the better part of my life travelling for work and the less time I spend in them the better. I find MCO one of the more efficient and to have some good creature comforts.

I try to get there 1:15 mins early use curbside checkin.... drop my family off and return the car. I then walk back and meet them on the other side of the security lines. By the time this is all complete I have normally 40 mins before flight.

Sounds like a plan to me. I would certainly do this if I had to fly. Might even look for a car rental company that would come pick up the car and then just take the ME to the airport. If all that is possible... we always have our own car so I have no experience in this area.
