VB for April 19-26, 2008

We have never been to VB, and were thinking of trying it out next Spring. Our Spring Break is April 19-26 for 2008. A couple of questions I hope you can help me with:

1) How is the weather in April in South Florida? Can you swim in the ocean/pools or is it too cold still? Thanks

2) Any idea how busy it will be? We will have to try for a 1BR or 2BR at the 7 month window. We already have our BCVs reservation for the same week. Do we have a chance of getting the week, do you think?

3) How does the changing of reservations work? As I read the boards, I see some folks losing their reservations? Is that possible? Do I run the chance of losing our BCV reservation that we made at the 11 mo window if they tell me there is a room at VB....and then end up with nothing? This sounds like mis-management to me. How can that happen?

I think you will be ok at 7 months. We have made ressies at 7 months in just about every month from March to November. Just call DBD to be sure.

The air temps average low for late april are 65 and the avg hi is 83. The ocean temp average is 78-80. It is a time of year though that air temps can spike in either direction. Since you are from NJ I would say this would be moderately comfortable, especially just coming out of winter.

We're from CT and spent our April school break at VB this past year. The weather was great, the kids were in the pool everyday, all day. We swam in the ocean and it was cool, but not any worse than the CT or NJ shore. We booked an Ocean View Inn room (have done this 2x) and absolutely love VB. Almost everyone we spoke to at the pool was from CT, NY, NJ or MA, guess we all had the same week off from school in April. You will love VB - I'm going to be disappointed if I'm not able to do that trip again this coming April, the same week you are looking to book. We're taking our extended family to SSR at the end of June '08, so we're short some points if I want to go to VB in April. Also don't know if I can swing two trips so close together, April and June. We were there this past spring-late March-and the weather was wonderful-the flowers and plants were beautiful and so nice to see after a long, cold PA winter. We had an ocean view inn room and found the kitchen enough for our needs for a week long stay. Sitting on the balcony every morning and evening and watching the ocean was so relaxing! The surf was a little rough for me, but my husband went out-we have a place at the beach in MD, but on the bay-staying ocean side is a real treat for us. I'm sure you will live Vero Beach!

NJMEISJE: My questions are the same as yours. My kids are off that same week in April (Passover I believe) and we were looking to do a more "relaxing" vacation after 5 straight years of WDW. The only other ? I have is which airport is used to fly into for Vero?
