Thank you all for this information We are a family of 3 with one friend in tow thinking about for here next summer.

I will be lurking!

Starbox,
I still don't understand what had happened regarding the chairs, etc. I think maybe swap #1 and #2 got mixed up. Like I said the boxes had no list on them, one chair when I pulled it out had a sticker w/ swap#2 on it and the other chair had a little sticker w/ swap #1 on it. There was no mention of beach toys that had been donated as according to what the other disboarders had said they donated. If you guys only knew what the 1st half of our vacation had been like during our stay at Boardwalk and Saratoga resorts you would have assumed the BAD KARMA was still attached to us.
It started when I booked the trip w/member services months ago!
Anyway the ended up crediting us my stay at Saratoga as well as my brothers, and made good. Vero was the highlight!

There were plenty of towels to go around and YES you can bring them to the beach.

Starbox none of this was your fault. It was a great idea! You worked so hard on it. One woman behind the desk just explained that it's not run by them -they do it as a favor for us. So just be persistant and tell them TO CHECK BOTH STORAGE ROOMS for the stuff. As I said earlier, both the chairs and umbrellas were in different storage rooms.

Question: Has anyone visited Vero in March? What's the weather like and is the ocean really freezing?

Everyone have fun!
Danielle

We had no problem with the chairs/umbrella, but the toys/boogie boards were no longer there when we got to VB on 7/22. I believe we were with Swap Group #2, and Starbox had mailed a new list to me C/O VB Resort. That new list was placed INSIDE the chair box, along with extra labels. The list itself is not on the outside of the box, but the labels are adhered to the outside of the box. I can't remember the name of the person who followed us, but it was a woman whose stay began on 8/4. Hope this gets back on track...BTW, Starbox, it looked as though someone had left an envelope with cash for you in the box. I didn't know what to do with it? Anyway, hope this info can shed some light for future swappers.

Starbox, we are with group #1. We leave on Thursday 8/16. I hope that all has been figured out, as this is all new to us - including the resort. My kids are hoping for the boogie boards and my parents are hoping to be able to sit on the beach without getting sunburned. I realize this isn't your fault and that these things can happen. You've done so much to try to make this work. I guess we'll just hope for the best.

I'll write to let all know how it went. Wish us luck!!:confused3 :)

Thanks Mrs. Nick I will let him know, he won't be able to do this bu himself, bummer I don't like to ride these niether does DH.

We booked our first stay at Vero Beach last week for Aug. 24 arrival. We are very excited as we have wanted to visit Vero for some time. Thanks for all the great information! We can't wait to experience it for ourselves.

Starbox, I sent you a PM last Friday, please check. Thanks!

Hello from lovely Vero Beach. As I sit here in the Green Cabin room, I can let you know that with a little persistance, I have my hands on two chairs, an umbrella and two boogie boards. The umbrella and boogie boards were still labeled for the swapper before me, so I think they are the ones that were missing. Took a couple of phone calls, but I have them now! We will treat them well and make sure they are clearly labeled for the next swapper. (Not that they weren't labeled correctly before. I'm sure they were just misplaced by bell services.)

Was there supposed to be anything additional besides the boogie boards?

Going to Vero for the first time in June and have a question. It might be in here somewhere, but I am still trying to get through all the info. So, I just wondered if all the 2 bedrooms were lockoffs, or if there are dedicated 2 bedrooms. Also if there are dedicated 2 bedrooms, are the layouts primarily the same?

Also, what is the chair swap and how does it work? Is it hard to rent the beach chairs, umbrellas and other stuff?

Well, I've only ever stayed in studios and Inn Rooms previously but when I changed my reservation from a 1BR to a 2BR the gal at MS told me I was getting a dedicated 2BR.

I don't know the answer to the lockoff question, but if you don't get an answer PM lisareniff and I bet she will know.

The chair swap for this year was organized by starbox. As you can see in this thread people posted their trip dates to VB and starbox created a sort of reservation list. And actually she ended up creating 2 lists because of the high demand. starbox purchased the chairs, umbrella, and boogie boards and had them shipped to VB for holding. I don't know exactly how the handover occured from one to another, but I believe a list was kept with the items.

Renting this stuff is not hard, but after 4 or 5 days it becomes a major expense

So to rent the 2 chairs, 1 umbrella, and 2 boogie boards that starbox provided would cost $175 over 5 days.

We always drive, so we have purchased our own items.

I don't know what the purchase costs were or how much each on the list had to pay. I havent' seen starbox on the boards for a while... I think she is probably deep into preparing for the start of school.

Since Rob called me out on this one...

From what I understand from others on the boards...

There are three villa buildings with three floors each. Each floor has 4 two bedroom lock offs and 2 dedicated two bedrooms. This gives a total of 18 dedicated 2 bedrooms and 36 two bedroom lock-offs. The buildings are in a shape of a 'U' with the bottom of the 'U' facing toward the ocean and each side having 2 two bedrooms units. The 2 dedicated units are on each side of the top of the 'U'.

I do not know of any major difference between the two types of 2 bedrooms other then what would be exected (removal of the kitchenette and connecting door and addition of a closet or two) but have not stayed in these units.

I sent Starbox a PM a couple weeks ago, and she hasn't responded. I'm hoping someone can help me here! I'm part of the Beach Chair swap, but I have NO idea of how it works. When I get there, how do I get the chairs and umbrella? Who do I ask, what specifically do I ask for? At the end of my trip, what do I do with them?

TIA!

Anne

Just ask a the front desk CM when you check in. They're kept in a storage room just off the main lobby. At the end of the week, put them back in the box and place the label (sheet of lables with names will be in the boxes) for the next person on the list on the outside of the box.

So I would say something like "There's a package that's been left for me here." It will have my name on the box?

Then at the end of the trip I put it back in the box and take the label for the next person and put it over the label with my name?

Sorry for being dense.

Hi Rob! Love all your info on Vero. Just sent closing papers in, so hope to ressie for next year, probably in August. Have you ever heard of anyone packing beach chairs/umbrella and checking them in as baggage on the plane? :wizard:

Anne,

You're in group 1 as we were. When we checked in we told the CM at the front desk there should be a package for us - that we were part of the chair swap. The two CMs (we were the only people checking in at the time, so the other CM at the front desk heard the conversation and joined in) who were there when we checked in knew exactly what we were talking about - in fact they commented on how "cool" they thought the whole process was. I gave my name and they came out with 3 boxes (one for each chair, and one for the umbrella) and attached to the boxes were the boogie boards (2 had been added, the CMs told us this) and the umbrella stand. When we were there in June, the list was on or in the box (can't remember - but it was clear of names and dates) and I crossed out our name and date on the sheet on the outside of the boxes and wrote the name and date of next in line before returning the boxes. Again, we replaced each chair in its box and the umbrella in its box and attached the boogie boards and stand to the boxes. We put them in the storage room ourselves when we returned them, so we were sure they were together then. Not sure when they got separated and the mix up started to occur, but it was running quite smoothly back in June and sounds as though it is back on track. I would certainly tell the CMs when you arrive that the packages are for the chair swap, hopefully you'll encounter the same two we did who knew just what to get.

Enjoy your trip - Vero Beach is beautiful!

Loretta

That's pretty much what we did.
