Planning to do an SSR to VB trip in Mid June or July. Do the parks for 4 days during the week and do VB 4 days toward/including the weekend. SSR is our home resort, will we have trouble getting a 2BR at VB that time of year? Should I book SSR now and VB at 7 months? Or will I be able to get both @ 7months?
This is our first trip on points, want to get it right! Thanks..

We own at SSR and I just booked VB today for Spring Break '07. We got the 1 bedroom we wanted without a problem. This is will be our 2nd year doing Spring Break at Vero both times not a problem at the 7 month opening. Good Luck and Have Fun.:sunny:

Thanks everyone, think I'll book both at the 7 month just to make it easier for me..... ;)

I guess I am the dissenting voice here: CMs at Vero Beach have told me a number of times that summer is by far their busiest season, especially June and July. Note also that the 2BR size is often the first to book up (per MS). We are currently waitlisted for a 2BR for the Thursday after Presidents' Day weekend (New England winter break), and have been since the 7 month mark.

If I were in your shoes, and if I had VB points to use at 11 months, I'd use them and get the room booked. The SSR ressie will happen at 7 months easily, but a VB 2BR in that season could be problematic.

I hope it all works perfectly for you and that you get the rooms you want.

SSR is our home resort, so we have to wait for the 7 month window to book VB...

Ditto on what pumpkinboy posted. We book VB evey year for June, July, or August. Until last year we booked a 1 bedroom, last year we had our new daughter and really wanted a 2 bedroom to allow extra room for all the baby stuff that came with us. I tried booking at 7 months...no luck...booked a 1 bedroom because our 5th person was an infant and waitlisted for the 2 bedroom. Never happened. Mentioned it to a CM when we were checking in and he said that 2bedrooms are the first to get booked.

SSR should be easy, will try to add VB @ 7months.. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
Maybe I shoud book all 7 nights at SSR now and I'll have them in case VB 2BR isn't available @7 mo? AHHH! Can't do a 1BR. My older son is REALLY tall and barely fits in the sofabed. Last time, my 11 yr old slept in a sleeping bag(fun when camping, not on vacation!)We live in snow country and always do WDW and the gulf beach in the summer(only time we can go). This will be our first trip on points and thought the WDW/VB would be nice..

You can book the whole thing at SSR and then change the last part later. You can even wait-list the days you want at VB and MS will automatically switch the reservation for you when it opens up.

We got Spring Break at HHI @ 7 months - and we live in GA so Spring Break the week we need ought to be crowded/popular. I could not book HHI three months prior - but was able to get VB w/out a problem last summer (even had a choice of units).

I can't imagine that you won't get Vero at all if you try right at 7 months and can do a wait list.

What you may want to do is book cash rooms for the weekend nights early on (like 11 months) if you can get them and then waitlist for points nights at the 7 month mark (simply cancelling the cash nights as the points nights come thru. We have done mixed cash and points stays at VB with no difficulties - one set of keys, one room, one single checkout date (even tho we started on points, went to cash over wkend then points again Sun-Tues): is was seamless - but that was an Inn room not a 2BR.

I hope it all works well for you! We love mixing WDW and VB; did it last Feb amd doing it again next Feb.

Starbox, I'm curious. You said you had your choice of several units. Did they have a 2 bedroom available for June, July, or August? We have never had trouble booking the smaller accomodations such as the 1 bedroom at VB and we've never stayed in a studi or inn room so I ahve no knowledge of the ease or difficulty fort hat size, its the 2 bedroom units and next to impossible cottages that are challenging to book at 7 months during the summer months.

I don't remember! I know I could choose between studio/inn room. I never want a 2 bedroom, so whenever that's been offered I don't pay much attention to it. I do know that I originally tried for HHI last summer and the only thing they had open was a 2 bedroom.

When we were there the first of August it absolutely was not filled-to-capacity. It was busy, but not over-crowded at all. There were maybe 10 families on the beach (at most). I did not have any trouble getting a pool lounge chair, even after lunch.

I think that I'll call MS on Monday and book SSR 2BR(it's our home resort) for all 7 nights. Then, as suggested here, call @7months for 2BR at Vero for the last 4 nights and cancel the last 4 SSR. I think that if we can't get a 2BR at Vero, we could probably go for 2 Inn rooms..If we can't get in at Vero, we'll spend 7 nights at WDW. Thanks for the info everyone!
