Great day! Nice and sunny! Finally hot!
Varisity swim meet was huge amounts of fun to take pictures! Lots of movement, Big splashes and beautiful strokes! I am sure you guys will be tired of my swimming pictures! But for the next 2 months that is all we do! Swim and Dive!

These are great action shots... I love the colors and the clarity of them... really makes you feel like you are there watching it live...

Very nice pics! I like all the fly pics. Did you do any editing? And do you shoot in raw format? What lens are you using?

I am interested because we are at swim meets twice a week for the summer.

At Monday nights meet the first few events were ok but then as the sun went down my pics got worse. And again even using the continuous shot mode I missed the shot I wanted.

So I am seriously considering upgrading to the XSi w/kit and 55-250mm IS lens. I used one (w/75-300mm lens or whatever the non IS one is) a few times last year and loved the speed. I have not used one for swimming only youth soccer and I am getting very frustrated with the shutter delay in my super zoom. I try to prefocus ahead of them etc and still am missing the shot. I manage to get about 1 ok pic for every 50+ throw aways it seems.

I shot it in JPeg format. No editing done on those pictures. My camera is the Cannon 50 D. I have a semi kit lens, 18-200 IS
I had a great day shooting. The sun was finally out. I think most of those shots were done on the sports mode. I have only had the camera about a month so I am still learning.

Thanks for the info. Sports mode is what I was planning on using and what I currently use on my superzoom bridge camera. I went to my warehouse club and bought the xsi last night, so we'll see how I do at the meet this Sat.

I look forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Great pics! I'm a swim mom (14 years!) and your title caught my eye. I have been looking to move to a DSLR. I currently have a Canon Powershot S2IS that I've had for about 3 years. Do you think it would be easy for me to move?

So are your kids Y swimmers or club swimmers? My boys were/are Y swimmers.

Thanks!
The only thing I can tell you is I love my camera for swimming! I am not camera wise! But this camer beats my old one, major improvement! I used a bridge camera for a few years it did ok but this is so much more fun and easier to get the shots I want. So far I am very happy with my results. It is a huge learning curve for me. I am still learning and I think and hope this is a camera I can continue to grow and learn!
My kids swim and dive both out door at a club pool and then indoor for a local swim team housed out of a high school.
