Various Discounts available

I have read many posts about the various discounts available. I called to make a reservation for the HRH for March 4th & 5th and since I didn't have any discounts was quoted the $229.00 rate. Can you all please let me know what the various discounts are and which is the best deal. I am not a AAA member. I do have a Loews card, but the rate wasn't any less. Is the Fan Club the same as the Entertainment rate? What is the Entertainment rate? Thanks to all of you saving super detectives!

I tried back in November for Entertainment discount at HRH for the following week, but was unable to get it as well. Booked gardenview room with entertainment book rate at RPH for ~$110/night. I have not heard of anyone getting Entertainment rate at HRH in March this year.

Side note: Has anyone got a entertainment rate on a deluxe room at any UO resort in March this year?

there are various discounts offered but it's often "hit and miss" - you have to time it just right, it seems. The ones I know about are:
Entertainment rates - you need an entertainment book which you can purhcase at entertainment.com. Any city will do - it's the card that comes with the book that you need. Discounts are up to 50% off rack rates, so it's well worth the investment of the book. You don't need the book to make your reservations, but you do need the card when you arrive at the hotel. Discounts are "released", but no set schedule as to when that happens. You need to keep phoning and checking weekly, if not daily.

Fan Club - read the thread at the top of the board about further info on this one. Basically, it's a Universal "club" - and discounts are about 30%.
Loews membership and AAA - there are discounts occasionally, but I'm unsure of what they are.

Dad of 3 - I have entertainment rate checking into PBH in a deluxe room on March 31. I know someone else posted they have entertainment rate arriving on March 30th. Check the post at the top of the board for "what are your dates and rates" and also specific hotel threads for a better idea of who's got what. I know HRH has offered nothing for entertainment rate for March since August last year - I'd been checking weekly until last month, and finally gave up when I managed to get all 7 nights at PBH.

There is also the annual passholder's rate, the all access rate, the Florida resident rate. I'm sure they limit the amount of discounts for each type and maybe they are all sold out of discounts for that week. it is a popular spring break week. I would also call five days out from the date you want, this is the alst day people have to cancel any reservations they have made w/o a penalty. keep trying!!!
