Variety in Kids' Meals

I am a little concerned because a lot of what the dining plan restaurants offer kids is Hamburgers, Macaroni, and Chicken Nuggets. My kids are, and probably will be that week a little adventurous in their food choices. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go where the kids' options are more diverse? Thanks for any help.

I can try to help!

I took a few minutes to look at the CS and TS kids meals on allearsnet.com. I copied the menus from the parks and pasted them into a Word document.

While there isn't a great variety in the types of food offered, this is pretty true of CS in general (even for adults). Between the CS locations in the parks, it looks like you can either have typical children's fare (I have read lots of complaints that their picky eater can't find anything to eat in the parks, it's all to exotic) It also looks like there are a few more interesting adult options out there. You can get chicken nuggets, PBJ, Mac and Cheese, Sloppy Joe's, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken Drumsticks, Chicken Wings, Fried Fish, Ham and Cheese Wraps, Turkey Roll Ups, Sub Sandwiches, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Salad, Pizza, and there are even a few locations with no kids menu - so you can order whatever they want off of the adult menu.

I pasted my word document below to hopefully help others who are looking at just WHERE you can get this stuff at. Below are Park CS Locations

I'm in the same boat if I made my kids eat mac and cheese and chicken nuggets for a week I think they would revolt!! I thought at the buffets or all you care to eat place they can get whatever? I saw Liberty Tree I thought that was a family style (all you can eat) and the kids could get what we could Am I wrong? If so I will remove it from my list. I plan to do a lot of character/buffets so my kids won't get stuck with mac and cheese and the like

You are correct. Kids can eat off the adult buffet and they eat what that grown ups are served at family style restaurants.

We try to do as many of these that we can.

I also overlooked the resort where we are staying, the Coronado Springs. The Maya grill has a couple of great, or what I think are great kids options.

If his meal is uninspiring my DS7 usually will try whatever we are having! To be honest we usually have more than enough for him too. So he'll have a little bit of his kids meal, and try some new things from us too. He can't have fruit (oral allergy) so that gets a bit tricky, but he loves soup and bread, so he can fill up pretty well with just an appetizer sometimes. I think we still get our moneys worth from his plan. However as Tricia has shown with her fab menu cheat sheet, it is possible to plan to eat at enough places that there is some variety. Obviously buffets are a great way to go.

I think the CS choices are the worst, but we usually work something out. We never get through all our CS credits anyway, as I usually struggle at those places too. To be honest DS would eat pizza all the time if we let him (thankfully WDW dining plan wont let him!!)

Thanks again to Tricia for compiling the lists. It's good to have her on hand, as this question pops up a lot. It can be quite daunting for a parent.

The kid's meal choices are the exact reason why we are not doing the DDP on our upcoming trip. I wanted more flexibility and variety for my kids. I would rather be creative at a restaurant and share a salad and entree with them than have them stuck with the same choices wherever we go. I also decided to place an order with gardengrocer.com. That way our hotel room will be filled with healthy choices too. Good luck and if you figure out a good solution let me know! By the way, I couldn't go to all buffets. While one or two here or their is okay, I am just not a buffet girl. It is germ thing for me. Too many people touching my food!!!

Liberty Tree dinner is also when the characters show up right? That's the other reason I want to go there I want to load up on character meals. By the time we go it will be 10 yrs since the last time we went so who knows how long it will be before we can go again.

Does anyone know why at Garden Grill its served family style, but children cannot eat off of that, they have their own seperate menu?
