Does Canada require all passengers to have a debarkation Covid test, or just unvaccinated children?

Neither, Canada has no testing on entry if the unvaccinated minor children are traveling with vaccinated adults.

DCL requires that all unvaccinated children on cruise of longer than 5 nights be tested before debarkation.

If you are flying back to the US after the cruise from Vancouver, you need to be tested to fly. If you are crossing the border by ground transport (car, bus, train) you do not need to be tested.

Another thing to add is if you’re flying or driving into Canada you will need the arrivecan app to get across the border. You can only set it up less than three days prior to crossing the border and it’s pretty easy to fill out I’ve done it several times. Also went on the boat three days prior to debarkation you’ll need to fill it out as well as returning to a Canadian port of Vancouver

Can we get this test to fly back on the boat?

Post-Cruise Testing Service for Guests Returning Home
Some Guests may be required by their home country or state public health authorities to show proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test result before returning home by air. Inspire Diagnostics, Disney Cruise Line’s third-party testing provider, offers this optional service for PCR testing and antigen testing. Guests are responsible for knowing what type of test their home country/state requires (PCR or antigen), and the window of time in which it must be conducted. Testing is conducted at the terminal after debarking the ship. Results take approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of test. This service is available for cruises beginning on or after January 31, 2022. For more information and to book an appointment, visit the Safe Passage website.

I wonder if you can head to the airport while waiting for test results so that you are ready to check in as soon as your results come back.

I know there are a number of people from the boards who are on the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise right now, I’m sure will hear from them as soon as they get back in a few days.

To answer that question you would actually have to call the place given the test. In my town in Oregon family members got a test at a state type clinic run place and it was a PCR test at the time and yes they were told that the only way they’re gonna get the results via email so they got packed they went to the airport they got ready to check in and they checked in as soon as they got the negative test. They had the same mindset as you

We just got off the Hawaii cruise on Monday. We did the covid testing in our stateroom through a monitored phone call which was super quick and easy. We knew our results within 15 minutes and they emailed us the official form within 2 hours. We tested in the room at 6am and then had the official results before we even got off the ship. We checked in with the airlines on the way to the airport and submitted our results. I don't know if somehow we got overlooked but we never once had to show our ArriveCan but we did have to show our Covid test results and also our vaccine cards at the airline check in. We did have to wear masks as soon as we got off the ship in the terminal, on the Disney transfer and we had to wear them in the Vancouver airport. We were flying American Airlines and as soon as we got on the plane we were told we could remove masks if we wanted to. When we got to the airport the line to test was pretty long. Two cruise ships arrived that day so there were a ton of people testing before their flights. :)

Did your phone include coverage in Canada or were you able to use wifi?

We were able to use data. Each person only took about 5 minutes to do the test. The administrator watched us take the test and gave us a code to verify our tests then the video call ended. After 15 minutes we uploaded a picture of the results to their website. It was a much less expensive option for us than using the other methods.

And you were able to use your phone? I was under the impression a laptop was required for procreated tests!

Can I ask who your carrier was and what brand test you used. We are planning to do eMed and have ATT. I was hoping the signal would be strong enough to do it with data.

Wait the video call ended before the test actually read positive or negative and then you had to send them pictures of it! I thought they would stare at you the entire time lol.

We debarked the Hawaii cruise on Monday also. At no point were we ever asked to show the ArriveCAN code when we entered Canada. We flew out the next day and stayed at the Fairmont at the airport. When checking in for our flight I asked the lady when I had to show our ArriveCAN code and she laughed and said..."oh that's when you first enter the country". All that stress for over filling out that app and nothing. We finished up our ArriveCAN app while at Aulani within 72 hours of boarding the ship. We did have to show DCL that we had the code when at the cruise terminal but they never scanned it.

My friend was told by guest services onboard that she had to redo her ArriveCAN because it had to be 72 hours before arriving in the country and not embarkation which was false. She was freaking out having to redo it on the ship.

We did our testing for the return to the US the day we debarked but not at the port but at the Fairmont at the airport since we were staying there. We had an appointment for Bonvoy Medical that we booked the day we were leaving the islands for the 5 sea days. I was delaying making the appointment to the last minute hoping the US would remove the requirement. Testing at the Fairmont was on the lobby level and very convenient. We had our results in about an hour and then we checked in for our flight which required proof of your negative result. There were a few people testing there instead of at the port that were flying out the same day.

I heard there we many issues with the Inspire testing at the Fairmont by the port. A lot of miscommunication on Inspire's end. They did not have a printer to print out results for people. People were told they would have a piece of paper proving their results but that didn't happen.

No one I talked to since the cruise was asked to show their ArriveCAN code when we debarked or anywhere else.

agree! That is odd as the whole point is the test strip is monitored for the entirety. Sounds easy to cheat as is essence it’s not monitored.
