We are heading out on the last DCL Sailing this year on 8/31. We will be spending about 4-5 days post cruise in Vancouver sightseeing. The "must dos" for our party include Orca Whale Watch, and Breakfast with the Bears. Other than that we are really flexible. Do we need to go ahead and get reservations for these 2 attractions (or others) or will we be fine booking when we go?

We are going Aug 17. Never been so can't help with that but I saw your post with "breakfast with bears". I've been researching Vancouver and haven't seen this. Would you mind explaining?

I would check about Breakfast with the Bears on Grouse Mountains site. When I was looking at the days we were considering it, there was no availability on one of our days (approx 3 weeks out for a Sunday). For Saturday there was only an 8:30 AM slot, and for Monday again no availability. That was for 3 people.

The aquarium in Stanely Park is nice, recommend the Teahouse in Stanely Park for lunch. The drive up to Whistler is very nice, be sure to stop at the waterfalls along the way.

Cheers!

If you look at this video... you can see you have a breakfast buffet next to the bear habitat. There will be no opportunities to feed the parents (or kids) to the bears.

lol!!!

If sports is your thing you can see if the BC Lions (CFL) or Whitecaps (MLS) are playing at BC Place.

xlxo- would you recommend prior reservations for an Orca watch tour or think we would fine a few days out?

What time do the shuttles start for the Breakfast with the Bears?
You need to double check this...
  • Website states 8:30am to 10:30am. Call ahead to check whether is it's 8:30am at the parking lot or 8:30 at the bear habitat!
  • the first bus departs Vancouver at 9am, arriving just past 9:30pm.... it's another 20 minutes to get to the bear habitat.... you'll arrive just in time to clean the dishes.

Hmm... thoughts...
  • I guess it depends weather forecast... is it good or bad.
  • I guess it depends if it's weekday or weekend
  • I guess it depends on which operator
I took a trip from Granville Island and for my next trip.... I think I would want to depart from Storybrooke (Steveston).
  • skip the long bumpy water ride around UBC and airport where the currents are strong
  • check out Steveston
  • take public transit (ride the subway) or use the $15 downtown shuttle
  • http://www.vancouverwhalewatch.com/ anyone wanna comment on past experiences?
Wanna check out Victoria or Butchart? The Prince of Whales has a downtown bundle..

Looking at Vancouver whale watch. It would be a weekday. Not sure about weather as we are still 2.5 months out
