Van that can fit 7 people AND a Maxima Scooter and folding wheelchair

Wasn't sure if I could post this here or if this should be in the Transportation thread.

Planning ahead for our upcoming trip to Disney in April/May, and may have come up with an issue...of course.

We plan on renting a Maxima scooter from Buena Vista Scooters for my DF, and a folding wheelchair for my DB, since he's special needs. We've fit 6 people in a Dodge Caravan with the wheelchair and ECV (with one seat down) so we know that's doable. The snag in this plan is that there is potentially another person coming along with us, which bumps up the group to 7, and there's no real configuration I know of that we can fit 7 people safely in a van with the scooter/wheelchair (not enough seatbelts).

Does anyone have any insight on this, whether that means we request a certain minivan from the rental, we go to rent a larger van or if we should just do two cars? (We'd likely plan on parking in the preferred sections, so that's double the cost if we do two cars).

Thank you,

We are renting two Victory 10 scooters from Gold Mobility and have been told that they would fit in a Dodge caravan, but that is with 3 people.

Something to keep in mind with the Maxima is it doesn't disassemble (at least not easily) and is extremely heavy, I would suggest calling Buena Vista since that is who you are renting from and asking for their input. I know Gold Mobility will help you figure it all out, so I would hope BV would as well. BTW, have you compared prices, pickup and delivery times, etc. with all of the companies? I like Gold Mobility not just because of price, but because they will meet on my schedule or if I desired I could pick up in person rather than have a time window to meet them at like most other companies do.

We’ve rented from Buena Vista in the past for DF multiple times and they give him a decent discount because of it. They’ve been good to work with on if we needed to change times at the last minute.

ETA: And yes, agreed on it being heavy. It normally takes 4 of us to pick it up and slide it into the van.

@CarlyMur09 Sounds like you may need to consider a 15 passenger van.

You can also reach out to MobilityWorks to see if they have an appropriate option for your situation.

This would be your best route... plenty of room.., for everything and everyone...

I will say the thought on picking up a scooter several times a day for days would be hard on anyone... It would be terrible if someone was to get hurt, and it could ruin their trip, as well you might not have enough people to then pick it up and down... I would do as some PP suggested, and make some calls, and see what is available to meet your needs, to see if there might be something out there that might work better for you.

Our friends rent a van with a scooter carrier on the back... which works very well for them. Not sure where they rent from...
