Van rental?

After extensive (and I do mean extensive lol) research, I had finally decided to stay off site and was finally pysched about it. We would be flying so would rent a car, but now I priced out van rentals and they are around $450 + for 8 nights (end of January) is that typical? I know I am looking pretty far out but I was really hoping to spend no more than $275 on the rental as with the gas, cost of the house, and parking that would actually put me pricier than staying on property. I know I'm getting more space, but I really expected savings as well. I just was curious if I could even get close to that number of if it's a lost cause. We will have 3 car seats and 2 strollers so we really need the van.

Have you tried looking for rental car codes at:

We go during peak times and we always rent a van. We never pay more than $340 including all taxes and fees. When you find a rental car price you can live with, book it, then keep checking car companies and codes. If you find a less expensive one, cancel the old reservation and book a new one. It will take some work and regular checking of prices, but I can't imagine you won't find a decent price for the end of January. Also, be sure to join the loyalty clubs for the car rental agencies (it's free). You will get less hassle at the counter and sometimes you get a free additional driver or other perks.

I saw one family use a uhaul to transport their twelve family members. Not sure that is legal, but I saw it.

Try Alamo with code 299851. I'm looking at $300/wk in June 2016, it's about the same I paid during out last trip in 2013.

I wouldn't worry too much yet. You should be able to find something cheaper. Just keep looking. I have been watching for one for 15 days in December and it has been around $900 to $1000 and finally this week it came up as $471. So just keep watching and waiting.
