Diamond Dave all the way. When Sammy joined the band, they lost all of their coolness. I hope someday soon the orginal lineup gets back together and and does a tour.

I wonder what will happen when they're inducted into the rock 'n' roll hall of fame...

You beat me to it! Gary has a new CD out. It's available through Amazon, do a search for "Cherone", the CD is titled "need i say more". It's got a funky jazzy sound, very smooth and suits his voice wonderfully! If you were a fan of "When I First Kissed You" or "More Than Words" on the Pornografitti CD, you'll love this new CD. ....

I really liked extreme. And ya know what's funny? First time I heard Gary Cherone I thought "wow, he would be a great singer for Van Halen!".... honestly! But, apparently the rst of the world did not agree! :rotfl2:

Sammy! However the reunion tour was horrible! Still kicking myself over the money I spent on that.

Like both equally. I consider them two different bands with two different directions. I think the new songs on the hits CD are pretty good. I also really liked Roth's first three solo CD's.

Extreme was one of my favorites as well, but I couldn't think of a worse singer for Van Halen than Gary. Not surprised that tanked.

I don't want Halen to get Roth back. He's done and out of it these days, move on.

I'm on the fence as to Gary being right for VH. If I had to choose, it would be that it wasn't a good spce for him, if only because the VH fans were just BRUTAL and I knew they wouldn't accept him.

I remember getting the call around 9:00pm on a hot August night telling me that he was getting on a plane to fly to LA to work with Eddie. It was originally just to do some writing, but within a couple of weeks it was obvious that he was going to be announced as the new singer.

For the record, I think the work he's doing now is the best he's ever done--ranging from the Dream, Extreme, VH, and Tribe of Judah, his solo work just seems to suit his voice the best.

I love Sammy Hagar solo, but Van Halen wasn't really Van Halen without David Lee Roth.

I don't think you can blame most of the fans. Gary can from a different scene and generation. My comment was actually kind of a compliment to Gary. The Halen style just isn't his thing, Gary is more progressive and not suited for the simple party song.

I've never heard of the other bands and didn't know he had solo stuff out. Hopefully there is some stuff on iTunes.

Well Standing Hampton is one of my all time favorite albums so I LOVE SAMMY!
But................Van Halen was def better with David Lee Roth.

Also about Mike Reno---have you seen him lately? Holy cow, not good!

David Lee Roth all the way. Even though from what I saw on interviews (back in the day) I couldn't stand the guy, he was still the best lead singer for the band, IMHO.

Didn't much care for Van Hagar and the direction they went after Sammy took over.

One of my first dates with my husband was to a Van Hagar concert so Sammy is by far my favorite. We went to see David Lee Roth and Sammy when they toured together. David looks ready for AARP.
