The first ever Disney Jr character to be adapted to a regular Disney Channel live action series premieres live on September 12, on Disney Channel. The streaming on Disney+ will be over a month later when it’s about 15 days before Halloween.

Just like Nickelodeon has done with Dora The Explorer Disney Channel is doing the same thing to it's Disney Junior characters and why I think they are making a teenage version of Vampirina is to attract the older audience. Because just as Nickelodeon has done with Dora The Explorer Disney Channel hopes that a teenage Vampirina will win the audience of older kids especially the kids that watched Vampirina as toddlers that are now older. I think that this movie will be the start of a franchise of Vampirina series of movies. I wouldn't be surprised if a teenage Sofia from Disney's Sofia The First will get her own movie too if this one is a winner

It's the supernatural/magical secret show for a new generation/cohort. It's the heir to Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Secret World of Alex Mack, The Journey of Alex Strange, Wizards of Waverley Place, and probably others I'm missing or haven't heard of. It's a basic formula/template like the action adventure series or the procedural. It keeps getting revived/reinvented/reconfigured.

The fact that the central character is a vampire is something I haven't seen before. Depending on how far they want to go, they can have some fun with "does this remind you of anything?," or "one dialogue, two conversations."

As I mentioned just like Nickelodeon is doing with Dora The Explorer by releasing live-action Dora The Explorer movies I think Disney Channel is trying the same thing with it's toddler shows by making older versions of the characters and making movies out of them. And with Vampirina they hope that a reboot of the show will gain the older audience and with Vampirina Teenage Vampire I think it will be a G-rated version of Netflix's Wednesday series. I would be surprised if a live-action Elena Of Avalor is in development next

Who watched it tonight? Disney really brought their A game on this one. I really liked it. The school has a bit of an ANT Farm/Camp Rock vibe to it. I think it will do well.

Just saw it. It was a lot more music leaning than what I expected. Vampirina's fangs are so cute!
