Vampire Diaries Premire

I actually really liked it! I'll be interested to see how the show plays out though -- it's one of those that I could see being too predictable.

I need some mindless entertainment. I am a mom, waitress, and full time english student (lots of serious, intense reading), so I like shows I don't have to think too much about sometimes. I watch Lost (one you have to think about) and The Office. I recently got a DVR and am starting to record Glee (love it so far), Melrose (meh...we'll see), Vamp Diaries, and Community.

Damon is played by the same actor who plays 'Boone' on Lost. I've got to get my fix until it comes back next year. ;)

I liked it. I actually didn't realize it was based on a book, so I was comparing the storyline to Twilight, asssuming they kinda ripped it off/were trying to capitalize....and I did find a lot of similarities....which is funny considering it's based on another book. I may need to find the book now! But for those of us who have not read the books yet, please dont post spoilers if you can avoid it! :thumbsup2

I didn't realize it was based on a book. I thought it was just a ripoff of Twilight. That being said, it was okay. I'll probably watch it again to give it a chance. Seems very similar to Twilight.

I might have to check this show out! I have a friend whose brother is going to be in next weeks episode.

It seems like the CW could have picked a better day to air it though. I watch too many things on Thursday nights! :sad2:

That's always going to be the case though. Advertisers pay extra to run commercials on Thursday night, the final night of the week with heavy viewing going on, right before the weekend when the heavy buying (and movie-going) will be going on.

Besides, in order for Show A to be put on some other night, that would mean that Show B would have to be moved from that (safer) time slot into Thursday night.

CW is relatively unconcerned though: They are very closely targeting the teen girl audience (with all of their shows it seems). So they aren't expecting to be going for the audience that Survivor, Bones, Parks and Recreation, and Flash Forward are trying for.

Well what they did was remove "Smallville" and put "Vampire Diaries" in that slot.

The reason they did that was because "Supernatural" is their major prime time hit, which is on after. They are trying to up the viewership.

I mean you can watch hot guys on VampD and then watch hot guys on SuperN. Thursday's are good.:)

I am taping other shows though. I think "Project Runway".

I got the impression that Zach was Stefan's nephew. :confused3

Yep, me too. I don't think Zach is anything but human (a descendant of Stefan and Damon's and obviously knows the history).
I also think that somehow Stefan was responsible for Damon's tranformation (directly or indirectly) but that could just be me reading too much into the statement he made to Stefan that he promised him an eternity of misery or something to that effect.

Stefan referred to Zach as his uncle, not the other way around, but I guess Zach could be his nephew. I am guessing that the brothers were transformed sometime around the Civil War, so Zach would have to be far down the family tree. Oh well, too much pondering for a tv show :lmao:

I'm glad someone else agreed with me about Damon's look. The actor is a good looking guy and looked like a man on Lost. He looked way too feminine in this episode.

It doesn't remind me of Twilight, except for the whole teen vamp thing. These vampires seem more like the traditional vampire than the sparkly ones a la Twilight.

Oh, you must have missed a scene. When speaking to Elena, Stefan referred to Zach as his uncle (which is their cover obviously) but when it was just the two of them at the house, Zach clearly said, "Uncle Stefan".

I agree. That's what I heard too.

I didn't think the first episode was awesome or anything but it was good enough to keep Vampire Diaries (didn't want to abbreviate it to VD :lmao:) on my DVR list for now.

I thought it was okay. It reminded me of Twilight meets Sookie Stackhouse. I'll give it a few more episodes.
I agree with there being too much on Thursday night. I am excited for The Office, Community, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia tonight!
Epiphany-Boone...I thought it was him!

I thought the show was lame. If I was a squeely teen, I'd have been all over it back in the day though, so I'm sure they'll be a hit in that demographic.

Man I miss Buffy. STRONG female leads are a rare find.

Oh, and if you know how to change the title of the thread, please tell me. I want to fix my spelling error!

I guess I must not have paid attention to that
