Value VS Moderate?

My husband and I had planned to rent DVC points, but they are all sold out the first week in December. So now we are going to book through AAA. The debate is whether or not we should just go with POP Century and use the extra cash for something like a tour versus paying rack rate for Port Orleans. I want the moderate, but husband wants the value. Please help us make the decision...we've never stayed at either!

It's either value or deluxe for my family. I have stayed at moderates, but do not see the benefit or value at a moderate.

I'd stay at POP and use the money elsewhere.

Then again, don't know your party size and who is traveling. We feel this way because of our kids. Many adult only travelers really enjoy the mods.

I base where to stay on how much time we plan to be in the room or at the resort.
If we will be in the park, and it is a shorter stay, then a value is fine.

I'd pick a mod every time. You get a fridge, covered bus stops, hot tub, slide at the pool, lounges, and at CSR you get added amenities like a spa, salon, fitness center, full menu room service. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

This was easy for me. It was just DH and I. I really liked Cornado Springs - It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful at night. Just what I needed after all the hipe during the day. Make a list pros and cons- I included the central air and CSR has pillow top mattress - and a fridge- any case use the list to make your decision

Stayed at both and love them both. Heading back to POP in the fall.
At this point, the only way I will return to moderate or deluxe is with considerable discounts. Last year I had CSR booked for a AAA discount of $116 a night. When Free Dining was announced POP was available. I just couldn't justify the almost $70 difference to keep it at CSR. Save your money, use it for tours, nicer meals and treats.....or another trip. We always ask for a lake view room at POP and it is quiet and quite enjoyable.

PS I travel with no young kids.

Really, one of our most memorable stays was in the Toy Story building at ASMo. :lovestruc

Thanks for all the great replies so far...keep them coming! We are just two adults and spend most of our time out of the room (other than nap time and night time). Is getting a fridge not possible at POP because we always bring our own snacks/drinks along? Also, we are renting a car because our first few days will be at Univeral (staying at cheap hotel near there first.) if that makes any difference?

Just changed our reservations from POFQ to WL now POP. We added another adult, so now have 5. I just couldn't justify spending all that money when we won't be in our rooms much. I love the moderates, but for a quick trip two rooms/two bathrooms seemed to be best. I will be watching this thread, sell me on the Value!

Our personal prefernce is a moderate. We travel alone now (boys are 22 and 20) and we find the values too crowded and too loud. We like the quietness, layout, food court, quiet pools and spa/fitness center at the CSR and always choose the moderate. We've done deluxe, but cannot justify the cost with two boys in college.

Personally, I'd say a moderate. POFQ to be exact. It's very romantic. It is a vacation and at some point you might want to spend some time alone with each other. Don't forget about Elliot Dyson at Scat Cats and the carriage ride at POR. The hot tub at POFQ is very secluded, you might even find your and DH alone there.

This could be just times we go; however, we find the rooms & especially the restaurants much cleaner at the moderate resorts. AT the Values, there is more traffic at the food courts, thus a higher need for mousekeeping in the dining area, but we prefer the dining areas at the moderate far more.

Short of that I it still Disney, and better than anything off site!!!!

If you were going to stay at a DVC property originally, maybe a Mod resort would put you closer to that.

We stay at both and good points have been made both ways.

If your going commando with not much time at the resort other than sleeping,Value. If you might like to relax a little, walk or bike ride around property, have a table service meal,or generally spend any time at the resort,Mod.

We like the Mod properties a lot,so always recommend them.

I would rather stay at a value rather than POR...we liked Sports better than POR and CBR better....CSR looks really nice!

We just stayed at POR and hated it so much we ended up at the POLY in the middle of our stay..Were ataying at POP in the Fall and were looking forward to it.

Good luck with your decision..either way I'm sure you will enjoy your stay!

If it's between these two mentioned here go with Pop Century! The only mod we really liked (and we've tried them all) was Coronado Springs. Pop is a fun place to stay. The inside isn't anything fancy but if it's just the two of you ask for a King bed. They offer them. The grounds however are a blast to check out! Have fun!!! :)
