I'm having a hard time deciding between a Value resort or the Moderate one at first I was feeling like I wanted to do the moderate so I would have something nice at the end of the night to come back to. Also liked the water slided part too. Thinking maybe Port Orleans Riverside or the Coroado. But I have heard of many of you staying at the other value ones and enjoying them too. So 4 adults 9 children ranging in age form 9 -15 with one two year old.

Oh Where oh where to stay??????:scratchin :scratchin

If money isn't an issue, I vote you stay at either Riverside or Coronado Springs. I like the food court at Riverside and our favourite place to eat is the Pepper Market at Coronado.

If money is an issue, then a value is your best bet. We've stayed at Pop something like seven or eight times, and I'd prefer to stay at the All-Stars, any of them.

Jim.

We prefer a moderate simply because we like to spend some time at the resort. We have stayed at the values and liked them but those trips we spent most of our time in the parks. We preferred Coronado Springs because of the great pool area. The pool and hot tub are huge, the water slide is one of the longest, and the pool area has an arcade, playground, beach volleyball and a pingpong table so there is plenty for the kids of all ages. The mods also have watercraft and bike rentals and the grounds are nicer (more resort like).

We have stayed at CBR 3x, CSR once and POFQ once. Honestly, I wish we started with value resorts. Although we love the mods [I'll do CBR and PO again, but I'm done with CSR] I think we missed out on the fun of the value themes when my kids were very young. We started going to WDW with kids ten years ago and have been 5 times since, dd14 and ds8 love to swim so we picked the mods.

Saying that....I think we will try a value for part of the trip next time.

I think that what everyone is saying here is very valid. It all comes down to this for me: if you don't care about what your room looks like and you aren't looking for something fancy then value. If you think you will be spending a lit bit more time in the room, at the resort and in the pool and you want it to be nicer then moderate. Food courts are the same in my opinion whereever you are. I personally always go with a little bit cheaper room means better meals. But that is my theory. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter that much where you stay - you will have a great time. And you can always hop on a bus to go and check out the lobby areas of some of the deluxe resorts which is cool.

I've stayed at POR, All Star Music and Pop. To be honest I didn't find much difference between the rooms. POR rooms may have been a little bigger, but it certainly wasn't by much.

The difference was in the amenities at the resort. POR had water craft rental, horse/carrige rides, bike rentals, nicer pool, food court and restaurant, etc. The values are baisc for amenities, no rentals, no restaurant (just a food court).

Unless those "extras" are important or you feel they will add some value to your vacation, I'd go value.

I also don't find much difference between the rooms once you are inside.

To me the only difference is a slide at the pool and a sit down restaurant.

I love staying at ASM and Pop. Those huge icons put a smile on my face every time I see them.

for those who stayed at the value resorts...did you find that they were crowded and loud, even during off-season times?

I have never found the value resorts crowded or loud. We stayed at ASM last year for free dining and loved it.

We have visited ASMo resort 2x in the afternoon and it was never crowded. S

We have stayed at POP and FQ and I personally would never stay at POP again unless I had to. We found it to be very crowded especially at the food court and pools. The rooms at both resorts are about the same size but the FQ had double sinks which was great in the morning. We could also hear our neighbours at POP but never heard anything at FQ. The FQ pool was much nicer than POP, it was nice to have a slide.
Like others have said, if money isn't an issue go with a moderate. You get what you pay for.

I think go big or go home. I liked Pop as much as CSR and CBR.

We love Coronado and hate Riverside/Dixie Landings and will never stay there again. Mind you for the difference we still go to the value resorts it is afterall just a bed after a long day in the parks.

I think we have come up with an new plan upon thinking about it. If we go with the value resort then we can look at extending out stay with the money saved on 3 rooms at moderate prices. going with the value room and more vactions time......

This planning thing is alot of work.

But it is so much fun!! :cool1:

For our December trip we are doing a split stay between Pop and CSR. We've never stayed at a moderate before so we are looking forward to seeing what the differences are. We really loved staying at Pop last year so we want to go back there again but we also want to try another resort as well. CSR's pool and waterslide were a big factor in our decision to stay there.

It sure is a lot of work LOL We're staying at ASMovies because (1) it's much more cost-effective, as we really won't be spending much time there anyway; and (b) the majority of our group REALLY really (did I mention really?) want to stay there :lmao:

More vacation time is ALWAYS the best plan, in my opinion :thumbsup2

We love POR. Not sure why another poster didn't.

It is so lush with trees and the setting is so beautiful. And you can take a boat ride to Down Town Disney from this resort.

I might be a room snob too because I have seen pictures of the All Stars resort and it reminds me of a cheap hotel, the furniture is lacking.

If you qualify for a CAA discount you can treat yourself to a moderate.

The CAA discount makes the moderate good value for the money. Also the value resorts do not have coffee pots.

For DW and I, we want to spend our time in the parks, so watercraft rentals and the like are of no interest to us. We didn't go to Disney World to do stuff you can do at a thousand other places. That goes for restaurant vs food court as well. We've got tons of ADRs scheduled at great restaurants in and around the parks, so we hardly want to waste time at our own resort eating. A quick meal at Everything Pop suits us just fine. The food is great, we never found it crowded. We never heard our neighbors. We think Pop Century is the best.

The boat to DTD isn't a rental it is a boat that get the resort people from POR and FQ to Pleasure Island etc.

We do this after the parks are closed.
