We are planning our first trip to Disney in January 2008. Trying to decide between Value and Moderate Resort. We we have our 2 year old daughter. Any suggestions as to which is the better option for two adults and a two year old. I am thinking the All Star movies looks more kid friendly for a two year old, but don't want to have to wait forever on buses and walk long distances from bus to room with a possibly sleeping or cranky two year old. I am overwhelmed trying to plan this trip so any sugestions would be appreciated.

If all you are planning on doing is sleeping in the resort that you will be staying at then I would recomend staying at a Value resort. The All Star resorts are big but each room is not a very long walk from each bus port. At least IMO they were't far. I've stayed at All Star a couple of times and enjoyed it each time. They are very kid friendly with lots of things to keep them busy and kiddie pools and such. Now, if you plan on spending more time at your resort and taking advantage of the amenities it offers then I would recomend staying at a Moderate resort. They usually have more in the way of resturants and gift shops and other activities that happen within the resort each day. Some even have character breakfasts. It's really all a matter of how much time you plan on spending in your resort. At least, that's how I usually make my decision.

My DH and I will be going to the World in September and we decided to stay at POP since all we will be doing is sleeping there. We didn't want to waist precious food and souvenier $$ on a hotel we'd barely be at.

Hope this helped and I hope you enjoy your trip to the world!!! :wizard:

I agree with the PP!! We have been looking into Moderate resorts for our next trip, and yes they do look nicer, but we are not at the resort all that much. The pools are very nice and the food courts have alot of choices!!

I've stayed at both Moderate and Value resorts. I haven't noticed a difference in bus service. Buses ran fairly frequently at both. The rooms are slightly larger at a Moderate but not enough to really matter to me. The big difference is that there are a few bus stops at the Moderate resorts compared to only one bus stop at Values. I tend to walk to the first bus stop at a Moderate to get the bus, my chance of finding a seat are better there than if I get on at the last stop.
If you don't plan on spending much time in your room, other than sleeping, I would go with the Value resort. Kids love the decor. If you want to stay at the resort more, go with a Moderate. For me, I prefer saving the money and staying at a value...it means I can go back that much sooner.

We stayed at POP in Jan and we had a wonderful time. We did not wait at all. The buses were really quick! I can't wait to get back!

From what I understand, value resorts don't have coffee makers or refrigerators, so if that's important to you upgrade to a moderate.

On our last two trips, we did POFQ (moderate) and POP (value)- on each trip we had a 3 year old. The rooms at POFQ were a little bigger- and the resort is quieter- could have just been where we were staying, but there was music playing at the pool not far from our room, which made nap time for 2 overexcited kids on the verge of giving up naps, not too much fun. POP was very fun though- lots of big bright decorations, very eyecatching. The pool was more fun at POFQ though. Dragon water slide, and squirting alligator statues... You can look at photos of just about everything at the resorts here http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm

This is my take, since you have a very young child, you might spend more time than you think at the resort due to naps and such.

I just booked our first trip and did not get the water park option and instead upgraded to the mod for the upgraded themed pool with slide, coffee maker and frig.(milk).

If your child is an early sleeper, I have heard the noise level is louder at the values than mods.

I think the mods would give you and your wife a better atmosphere to enjoy once the little one is resting.

The mods also have sit down service restaurants.

When your child gets a little bigger I am sure the value's themes would be more fun. So therefore I would enjoy a mod while I could.

I liked POFQ with a 2 1/2 year old. Everything was so close at FQ! We've never stayed at a Value yet, so I can't compare.

We stayed at Pop Century 2 weeks ago and loved it (my 6yo son really enjoyed staying there). When deciding between one of the All-Star Resorts and Pop Century, several friends advised against the All-Stars due to the fact that they do not have their own dedicated buses to the parks but instead, each bus going to or from a park makes stop at all three resorts. So we selected Pop Century and paid a little extra for a preferred room to be closer to the food court and bus stops.

It really does come down to Atmosphere. I think with a small child, the values would be fine because they are colorful and fun. Also, as others have said, the only resort that would be more manageable size-wise is POFQ. If walking is something you would like to reduce, I would suggest there. The other option is to reserve a preferred room at POP which should get you closer to the entrance. Either way will be great, so enjoy your stay!

it really just comes down to how much you are comfortable spending. personally we always do moderates or higher just becasue we feel that its always worth it! have fun!

My wife and I have stayed at Pop Century the last 3 yrs. we don't spend a lot of time at the resort so it's perfect. If your planning more time at the resort and can afford it, maybe the moderate would be a better fit for you.
