Value, Standard, Savannah or Club

What is the difference between these? The points differ according to which one you pick. I tried to ask on the DVC chat thingy but the CM said Disney wouldn't allow them to answer that question online and I must let them call me to get into it. Thank You

value - rooms are 3 ft shorter than normal villas. more cramped but some have pool view, some have savanna view, some have parking lot view.

only 18 or so value rooms (hard to book) - all at jambo house (i.e. the old AKL) on the 5th floor

edited to add: value villas do NOT have the extra sleeper chair and therefore have smaller occupancy limits than the other villas, as noted on the point charts

standard view - pool view at jambo house or pool/parking lot view at kidani.

savanna view - where the animals are.

club - access to club level lounge, concierge service, daily mousekeeping. downside: crummy views. 3 savanna + 2 pool view.

only 5 value lockoff 2BRs (VERY hard to book) - all at jambo house (i.e. the old AKL) on the 6th floor

all DVC villas at jambo house are on the 5th floor except for the club level villas. kidani is 100% DVC - no hotel rooms.

kidani 1BR have 2 bathrooms...so kidani 2BRs have 3 bathrooms. jambo house 1BRs only have 1 bathroom.

Wanted to add that the Value Studios are a luck of the draw regarding view.
If your heart is set on Savannah view, you would need to book accordingly.

We have stayed in the Value Studios twice, once we got a Savannah view, and the other a parking lot view.

Kidani master bathrooms have a separate shower from tub. Jambo master bathrooms have a combo tub/shower.

All Jambo two bedrooms are lockoffs.

What is a lockoff? And so really the only difference in the value accomodations is they are 3 ft shorter??? I'm still new to this DVC stuff. I just wanted ways for us to spend less on our vacation. Found out about renting points, started researching it for a 4 night stay, now I've got my husband requesting info for our own membership LOL One thing leads to another with Disney!!!

A lockoff refers to a 1BR and Studio that connect to each other. They can be locked off and rented separately or joined and rented as a 2BR villa with the Studio as the 2nd bedroom. In a Dedicated 2BR the second bedroom cannot be rented separately and has a different configuration than a Studio. It will have 2 queen beds (vs the one queen bed and full-size sleeper sofa in the Studio) and no kitchenette.

Because the Value rooms are shorter there is no room for the sleeper chair in the 1BR/2BR Value villas. That makes the occupancy of those villas lower (4 for the Value 1BR, 8 for the Value 2BR instead of 5 and 9 respectively for the other booking categories at AKV). The Value Studio does not have room for the storage bench so there are fewer places to sit and less room to store things in the room. The furnishings at AKV are big and bulky so squeezing that large furniture into the smaller Value room means there is little open space for stashing things out of the way, such as your suitcases.

The wife and I booked a standard view based off our last stay. We love overlooking the pool at jambo. However, we were "upgraded" to a savannah view. The savannah had 3 large storks on it and was very small. I would not have spent points to have that view.

While we recently discovered that AKV Kidanni maybe be our favorite resort (so far), I think that at least for our family and trip priorities, the savanah view is over-rated.

We did enjoy going out back before/after dinner, hanging out at the fire, etc when watching animals, but there really wasn't any time to do that from the room since we left in the morning (no animals out) and didn't return till night (some animals, but very dark).

If your trip often includes a lot of "room time" during the day and early evenings, I can see why a savanah view might be more desireable.

If you're renting points from someone, you'll probably want to rent from someone who owns at AKV and book at the 11 month mark if you want a Concierge or Value room as these are pretty hard to book at the 7 month mark when other resorts have access to the inventory.
