I am new to anyting that is Disney Cruise related. First question and I am sure many more to follow. When is value season and peak season? Husband of almost 35 years has finally decided to go on a cruise for our anniversary.

Although this is not the "official" answer, this will help in some planning.

Disney cruises are cheaper when these things are happening -- kids are in school; hurricane season; cooler weather in the states. The rates are higher for summer but will drop significantly for the fall. They rise rising again for holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years. Rates drop again for parts of January as well as February then start to rise again in March. Overall, you can expect higher rates in June-July than March. To avoid higher rates, pick a non-holiday, non-summer travel period.

My suggestion is to go to the Disney website, www.disney.com and just do some random checking around for rates and dates. It is easy to do some price checking that way, especially if you are in the beginnings of your research.

And lastly, stick around these boards. There is a wealth of information to be learned.

Good Luck!

Think supply and demand. There is no reason for Disney to discount heavily when the demand is high. And, demand is highest when the schools are out. In general, the following periods have lower demands:

After Labor Day and before Thanksgiving
After Thanksgiving and before Christmas
After New Years and before Spring Break/Easter
After Spring Break/Easter before Memorial Day

Of course the further you can stay away from any of these holidays, the better the price you can expect to get.

Another issue you might want to consider is climate. The Caribbean region has a distinct weather pattern. The rainy season starts around May and ends in Oct. The hurricane season begins in June and ends in Oct. The ambient temperature is very comfortable in winter times, but the water temp may be a bit cool to some.

Good luck in your planning... ;)

The least expensive time to go is September, followed by October through mid-December with the exception of the two weeks around Thanksgiving. Then January through mid-February (just before President's Day) and finally late April through May. All the other times are peak and holiday and are very expensive. The earlier you can book, the better the rates. As the ship fills, the rates go up.

I hope this helps!

While we were on the Magic last week......(stops to blow nose and wipe tears) They had a paper with some "special rates" for 2003. May had 2 weeks, but I can't remember them. Then there were 9/6/03-9/20/03 and 10/18/03, 11/01/03,11/29/03 and 12/13/03. Hope this helps!
