We're looking at going to WDW in June of '09. I'm pretty sure the only way to stay on property (which I really want to do) is to stay at a value rsort. I have mixed feelings about the values. On one hand they look like something my kids(dd will turn 8 while there and ds 5) would love. I wonder if all the negatives I hear are true or just people who like to complain. That all being said..of all the values which would be the best?

Pop Century is the newest, slightly nicest, and best located (by far).

They're not bad places - certainly better than staying offsite! They're just pretty basic, and can be quite crowded due to 2000-2500 rooms of guests per resort. Some of the moderates have 2000 rooms but they're so much more spread out you don't feel the crowds as much. That said, I've stayed at all the values even though I'm a dvc member and I've been happy in them.

We stayed at All Star Movies back is August and loved it. I would stay there again.

When all 5 of our children are able to go, (2 with college & work conflicts) we stay in 2 rooms at the Value Resorts. When they can't all go, or before the youngest 2 were born, we stay/ed at Deluxe Resorts.

I feel our Disney experience is magical, no matter where we are staying.

it beats staying off-site any day. The perks of staying at a Disney resort are great, for the transportation alone. Not having to worry about a car and parking at all the resorts makes it so much better. I definately recommend any of the Disney resorts and if the Value resorts are seeming like the only feasible options, you still won't be disappointed. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Movies during our honeymoon and LOVED it! In fact, we're staying there again in May with our best friends.

I thought ASMovies was delightful - DD then 3 thought she had died and gone to heaven... that said DW didn't like the small beds :rolleyes1 , however the upside to that is we're staying at AKL next time :cool1: :woohoo:

When we took the kids for the first time (years ago - the all star music and sports had just opened) I decided not to stay in the "cheap" hotels. I thought it would be better to stay in the moderates. Once there I realized for the amount of time we spent in the room it was a waste of money to stay at the moderates. The values were fine for our family.

Since then I've stayed in both values and moderates. The moderates are slightly less crowded and the buildings do not seem as close together. It is more spread out. I never noticed a difference in the bus service or food courts. For me, it is worth it to save money and stay at the values. That way I can put the money I save into my next trip. If I stayed at the moderates I could not afford as many trips as I have been able to take lately.

We've stayed at the values plenty of times and have always enjoyed them. POP and ASM are in the best shape. They are a lot of fun and the Disney magic is there. no worries, you'll have a great time!

We are a family of 4 and have stayed in all values and all are great, they meet the DISNEY standar very well, they are clean, the beds are very good, we never eat in the resort because we love to eat at better restaurants in the parks or in other resort but food court is very nice and clean, go ahead and stay in any of the values you and your family will love it.-

We've stayed at most of the deluxes, all of the moderates and all of the values (yeah, we go alot). We've also stayed offsite. If you want to stay onsite and the way you can do that is to book a value, then book a value. A Disney value resort is NOT some slum.

Please get it out of your mind that you are "settling" for a value. If you do that, then you will spend your trip finding all the negatives and not focusing on the positives.

Of the values, we feel they are about the same. Pop Century would be our "favorite" because of all the memories of times gone by. It also has a dedicated bus line so no sharing.

The All Star Sports would be next for us because we love sports. Then the Movies because we love movies. Then Music because we love music but not the same kind.

If I used a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest for rating a value, I'd rate Pop Century at 10, Sports a 9.99999, Movies a 9.9999 and Music a 9.999. It's that close.

I agree 100%

We go to WDW every other year so our next trip is June 2009! We stay at moderates or value! Values are great! No complaints here. My DS will be 8 on the next trip. Probably the only value to be aware of is maybe Sports(cute but it takes the most school/sports groups per the information on these boards). The Music Resort has been getting many favorable reviews recently:thumbsup2

Over the years I have stayed at all of the value resorts and POP would be my choice. None of the rooms seem to be far from the food court/transportation area and of course it is the newest of the value resorts. My next pick would be the AS Movies. Have a great trip!!!

My daughters first trip is the October. They are 6 and 3. We booked ASMovies because I thought the girls would love all the big "movie" icons in front of the rooms. Now I am reading all these good reviews on POP. Should I change resorts?

I own DVC at BWV...but I love POP. I took my 31 y/o dd to WDW for her first ever trip last month. I wanted to give her a 'both ends of the spectrum' type experience. So, we stayed at POP for the first two nights then moved over to BWV. Well.....I should have just saved my points because my dd loved POP. She was actually disappointed when we got to BWV, if you can imagine that. She loved the liveliness of POP, she loved the food court, she loved every single thing about it.

For me, the only difference between the values and the moderates is the theming. The mods seem to have more 'adult' theming. Yes, they have table service restaurants, slides in the main pools, and more recreational options. But, we seldom take advantage of any of those things...so, a value just makes more sense to me. Hot tubs? Yes, the mods have 'em, the values don't. Again, not something I choose to use.

I really don't think the values are 'motel 6' like. They are brightly themed, full of hustle and bustle. They are very safe, clean, well kept. I don't think you can go wrong when you choose a value resort at WDW.

My family stayed at ASM in the family suites. We loved it. The pool had activites from 2pm to 8pm when they showed a movie on a giant inflatable screen. From taking buses we found that more families stay at ASM while large groups of teens seem to stay at AS Sport and ASM. Like bands, cheerleaders, sports teams etc.. I didn't notice any large groups of teens at ASM but they were definatley on the buses we shared with AS Sport. They were bad but they were loud and I was happy when they got off the bus.

We've stayed at Pop twice and have loved it each time. We split our stay between a Value and a Deluxe because we hit the parks really hard the first few days, then slow down. Pop is fun for us and our favorite value (I'm not too keen on the All Stars). Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others. :thumbsup2

love Pop - stayed there 5 times soon to be 6. also own dvc - okw, vwl and bwv.

Pop is cute. a walk down memory lane. You will see stuff you haven't seem since you were a child. makes you feel younger.

the negatives - it is a big resort in a small place - for about half the size of the polyn it has 3 times as many guest.

unless you can get up and go to breakfast as soon as the food court open - 7:00am (hot food - the bakery is open at 6:30) - then forget it.

the place has 2,880 rooms - that could be (but won't solo and couples love this place too) 11,520 guests trying to get to the parks at the same time you do.

if you can't get up and get going early - then forget going to the food court here and just go to the parks and eat breakfast there.

you have to bring your hotel towels to the swimming pool. if you run out just call housekeeping they will bring some more.

these swimming pools are different - instead of just one set of steps - there are 4 - one on each side. I happen to love this feature - makes it easier to get in and out. Others hate it.

have had good luck with their buses - the most wait time was at MK after the park closes - but hey everyone waits then. most of the time a bus came along every 5 to 15 minutes.

Pop does not share the buses - so they only stop at Pop and the parks.

now some people have complainted about housekeeping - but I have been very, very happy with Pop housekeeping - so that is just luck of the draw.

would not get 60's building (preferred) near the swimming pool. these rooms are just too close to that swimming pool and it is open until midnight.
