Value resorts and discounts / free dining?

We've only stayed at POR Riverside and we either got the 30% off room or the Disney Dining Plan (with the sit down meal per day)....

But for the value resorts, I have been researching... if there is free dining, do they only offer the QS Dining Plan for value resorts? If we plan on having sit down dinners, can we pay the difference to upgrade our dining plan?

And do they offer room only discounts on the value resorts?

Yes, they offer room only discounts at value resorts. For the last couple of years, the free dining promos have included the Quick Service plan for values and Regular Dining Plan for Mods and Deluxes. You can upgrade the free dining promo by paying the difference in the plans.

great... thanks! someone had mentioned they didn't usually discount AoA so I didn't know it that was just that resort or all values..

AoA gets discounts, it's the specific Little Mermaid rooms at AoA that doesn't generally get discounts.

Please keep in mind that the rumor on the street is that FD is only going to be offered for Mods and Deluxe and it will only be QS you would have to upgrade to regular dining and the rest of the rumor is that they will not be offering FD to value at all. Hope the rumor is wrong but not looking good.

Okey doey, just wanted to put it out there so it isn't a surprise if it should happen that way. I myself am hoping that they keep the same FD promo they have had in the past. Will save my crew more than what is rumored. Good luck and pixie dust to all!

Does anyone know if there are any summer 2013 discounts coming soon? we want to book a trip in July or August but are waiting to see if any discounts become available. Anyone heard anything?

Nothing yet. We are hearing that something new will be announced in March though. Fingers crossed it is something good

and they announce free dining for Mods and higher, would I be able to modify my existing reservation to a moderate and get the dining... we are saving $300 by staying at Pop over POR, and free dining for four would be worth the switch.... but only if they announce free dining for my week (which they have for the last three years, which is why I'm kind of hoping!)

If the rooms are available I don't see why not. if you are looking for regular dining you might have to upgrade because they are saying that only QS will be offered to Mod and deluxe.

The only thing you are going to see in July and the first 2 weeks of August ate possibly som small room discounts. That's high summer crowd season. If they release any room discounts for that time frame it will be in the next 4 to 6 weeks. Any free dining dates will most likely cover late August through September.

Of course you can change resorts. You can make changes of any kind to your existing reservation up to 45 days from check in, without penalty.

It works out to about $18 per person per night to upgrade from QS to TS .

Our last trip we found that staying at a Moderate resort was the same price as staying at a value and paying for the dining upgrade for all of us.

The only way Disney could do that would be to offer significant discounts to values instead of FD. Otherwise nobody would book a value if it would be cheaper to stay at a mod. The cost difference between the value and the mod for a weeks stay is only $300 or so. FD would easily save 2 to 3 times that amount or more depending on number of guests and ages.
