Value or Moderate?

My husband and I have been twice and stayed at value resorts (POP and ASMU) and loved them. We are thinking ahead to our trip next year (so far away  ).
However, I have heard good things about other resorts and am thinking of upgrading to a Moderate. I was thinking about Caribbean Beach. What would we gain by upgrading?

Hi,
We also have in the past stayed at ASMU, and CBR. I prefer CBR, very nice pool with a slide, rooms a little larger, but to me I think the resort is more peaceful. Have fun were ever you stay.

We've only stayed at Pop ourselves and decided with CSR. To us it just has a beautiful feel to it and people consider it deluxe light. Buzz has a wonderful website that has ANY information you would need on it. And CSR has the BEST moderate pool. I know this because I put a poll out and everyone really loved the Dig Site. As for CBR, I've never stayed there but I'm sure any moderate would be a great choice.

I simply do not see the value in upgrading to moderates. They dont have more space in the rooms and the theming at the values is way more fun, in my opinions.

I think your family would definitely enjoy one of the moderate resorts. I am glad that you had a good experience with the value resorts- I didn't! I found the staff to be rude, with a "you stayed at the cheapest place so this is whatcha' get" kind of attitude when we complained about noise levels and massive groups of foreign exchange students loudly partying on the balconies. We have stayed at CBR, POR, POFQ, all of which are moderate places, and had a much better experience. If you were able to kick it up yet another notch (as Emeril would say) I highly HIGHLY recommend the Wilderness Lodge in the deluxe category. It's our favorite by far. Regardless of where you stay...have a blast!!

Prior to our DVC purchase, we stayed at all three AS resorts, CSR, CBR, and POFQ.
We only stayed at the AS resorts if we were looking to save some money. My biggest complaint about the AS resorts would be the noise of those choosing to occupy their time by running up and down the outside hallways at all hours of the night while making as much noise as possible.
My favorite between CSR, CBR, and POFQ is CSR. I love the theme, the kids love the slide, and DH loves the margaritas! :teeth:

I have stayed at the ASMO, POR , AKL and CBR. Two times at CBR, and it is my favorite. I just love the grounds...I'm a walker. At CBR you now get a refrigerator, hairdryer, iron & ironing board and coffee maker. They have a double sink and a privacy curtain seperating the sink area from the bed area.

I like eating outdoors, and the CBR has a lot of umbrella tables to eat at. Overall, it's my favorite resort.

Go for the moderates....they are just so much nicer. You get what you pay for!

We've had the opportunity to stay in almost every resort including the deluxes through the years and I feel you can't beat the savings you get from staying at a value vs. any other level. We've stayed concierge, too. We either save more money by staying at a value to take another trip or we enjoy our trip more with better dining, extra Disney tours, fireworks cruises, more souvenirs, etc. by staying at a value resort.

You can visit the other resorts by dining there, etc. and enjoy them from that point of view. Now, if you are a pool-a-holic, then maybe, you can justify going to an upgraded resort to a degree but my answer there is to go to a water park instead and save the money spent for a more expensive resort. How much will you be at poolside to justify the extra expense? Also, I believe, if you want to enjoy a pool do it at home, not at Disney.

I'm a down to earth kind of person and I don't need to prove anything with the Jones by staying at a more expensive resort. Also, you can get good CMs and bad ones no matter where you stay at Disney. We've seen it all in our time. The best way to handle a bad CM is to ask for a supervisor and stay calm.

My number one goal going to WDW is to be in the parks, not the resort. We are ususally tired when our day is done and any bed is good at that point. We don't go at it commando style and we do take rests but usually a nap, not a swim. I vote totally for a value resort each and everytime.
