We will be going to Disney from 10/13 - 10/17. I have a room booked at SOG (we have stayed there before), but my DS is 4 & I'm thinking he might like one of the Value or Mod. resorts because of the pools. Me & DH have stayed at CBR which I like, but I was looking at some of the Value Resorts & I'm thinking my DS might like them. What is the difference between Value & Mod.

Thanks for any suggestions & help.

We stayed at AsMusic last fall and my kids loved it. With a child that young they are going to like the "cartoonishness" of these resorts. Have you checked out Pop Century?

I think the moderates are made to appeal to adults more than kids. Although the values have great pools, they don't have pool slides.

We had ressies at the SOG, but changed them to POP for our upcoming trip in Sept. We were looking forward to checking out the SOG since the reopening - but, I also really wanted to check out the new POP Century. We got a much cheaper room rate at POP & I've heard great things about this resort. The extra money allowed us to stay longer & eat at some additional restaurants & character meals.

We have stayed at the All Star Movies twice & we really loved it. Your DS would probably really enjoy the huge icons at either All Star Movies or POP Century. The pools are fun (even without a water slide.) The food courts are very convenient & quick for families on the go. We have also stayed at the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge & Contemporary & loved them all. We still enjoy the values, too though. :) I think the values often have better transportation, too.

I think the biggest differences between the values & moderates (other than the $) are: bigger room size, slide at the main pool, full service restaurant in addition to the food court, more activities are offered at the moderate - ex: renting bikes or water mouse boats.

HTH! :)

i sugest really any value for the kids. But if you want something a little more adultish, and you want 2 great pools (sister resorts can share pools), do POR in the Alligator Bayou. That way you can do both Ol' Man Island and Dubloon Lagoon

We have also switched our reservations from SOG to Pop for our Oct trip. It's only like $3 more for 2 rooms at Pop than 1 at SOG.

What rates did everyone get for the POP, when I was checking the rates it was $99. I'm thinking I might switch. If staying at POP can we go to a moderate and still rent bikes & boats or do you need to be a guest at that hotel. Thanks for everyones input.

I got $49 but that was a CM rate, but I also got the "e-mail" w/ the same rate just a few weeks after I had already booked. Yes you can still go to the other resorts to rent boats and bikes.

There was a code out for Military families - it allowed us to get the POP for $46 a night (before tax) for our trip in Sept. I believe the code was only good thru 9/30/04. This saved us a couple hundred dollars of the SOG room rates. :)

The moderates will offer better sound proofing and larger rooms. You also won't have to contend with the legions of children there attending whatever function is going on at the Sports Complex (they stay where it's cheapest which is the value resorts).

If it's a matter of $$, then you can't beat the value resorts @ $49/nt (not including tax). However, you get what you pay for. They are not a place I enjoy staying and only recommend them if you just have to go to DW and money is very tight.

Everything is a matter of taste and what YOU like and can afford. :)
