Val's Journal (comments welcome)

Val, I'm glad you caught your son's ear problems early! My niece was practically deaf in one ear but no one realized it until she was 8 or 9 years old. Her parents felt soooo guilty about all the times they got angry with her for "ignoring" them! I'm sure you'll find the most amazing ways to help him adjust!

You're doing a great job handling all the stress you've been going through! I truly think you're creating healthy habits for life! You've come a long way, Val, and you should be celebrating your success! Congratulations on losing 9 pounds and on losing 3 inches in your waist!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hope you have a wonderful low-stress Thursday!! :sunny:

Hi Val!:wave2:
I hope you are having a good Thursday! The :sunny: is out, at least for a while today, so try to enjoy it. How are you doing with the Pilates?
AI- Well, hooray! Camille finally went! But I can't believe John Stevens still wasn't in the bottom 3!:bounce: What the heck is going on? We shall see what happens next week.....
Have a great day today Val!! :smooth:

Hey Val,
It sounds like your DS appointment went well. It's good that the problem was detected at an early age. We will continue to keep him in our prayers.

I hope that you have a great weekend! Take good care of you, Val!

   I just had the world's longest reply written with personal messages to everyone and the Dis ate it!!! Lesson learned. Never push submit reply without copying first!

Okay, here's the gist of it.

 Hey everyone! Thanks you so much for the support and encouragement. It's very appreciated ::yes:: !

I'm very happy that we finally know what we are dealing with regarding ds's hearing. This has been a question for a long time now. I'm hoping they don't go the hearing aide route since I would be quite nervous putting something that expensive in the hand (or ears ;) ) of such a young and active child. We found out that in crowds he can't hear us. They did a test with background noise and demonstrated to us just how hard it was for him. We will have to make sure he can see us so he can understand in that type of setting.

The little boy I watch is slowly improving according to the mom. She took him back to the dr. yesterday and he is now saying he doesn't know exactly what the infection is. Two different dr.s have told her that they have never seen anything like it  . This is the same child who had pneumonia about 3 weeks ago. Seems he gets some sort of serious sickness about once a month. I really think he should be tested for immune deficiancy disorders. Just breaks my heart to see him sick so much because he's such a cute and happy little guy.

I'm so glad Camille went on AI BUT how did Jon Stevens escape the bottom three?!! Guess it could have been worse and he could have been in the top three :scared1: ! I was very please with the top three. I hope it doesn't change. George is still number one with me :teeth: .

Thanks for all of the congrats on the 9 pounds :D . Now I just have to keep that scale moving in the right direction.

Yesterday went pretty well. I finally got back to the treadmill after taking Tues. and Wed. off but I have been doing Pilates everyday so I will make my exercise goal for the week.

Food went well yesterday too but I'm not so sure what will happen in that department today. DH was supposed to have tonight off for Good Friday but he's decided to work now. I was really looking forward to spending a three day weekend with him. It's ridiculously good money though. He gets paid double time and a half plus it's an easy night for him. It just messes up my plans for the day though. At least I have the day off so to speak. I don't have any extra kids coming today, just me and ds. I really enjoy the kids I watch, its just nice to have some quiet time too ::yes:: .

That's all for now. I'm going to get to some journals and then I'll be back tomorrow after weigh in :crazy2: .

Hey Val! Sounds like everything is going pretty well for you right now. Yay!!:Pinkbounc
Too bad DH has to work, but at least he gets extra money for the extra hours! Put it into the WDW savings!!:teeth: Enjoy your quiet time with DS. The one on one time should be a real treat for both of you. ::yes::
Hope you have a great evening!

:wave2: Hi Sharon! Thanks for stopping by :D .

Just time for a quick post today as this week is going to be super busy :( . Weigh in went fine on Saturday. I stayed at 156 which isn't so bad considering it wasn't exactly a stellar week. Hoping this week will be better. I hope everyone had a nice Easter :D . We did. I am planning on catching up with journals tomorrow. Please know I am thinking of my Wish buddies ::yes:: .

Good morning Val!

Congratulations on maintaining this week. :jumping1: I didn't have a stellar week either, so I was equally thrilled that the scale stayed the same. ::yes::

I hope that you have a great Monday!

Val, maintenance is GOOD! :Pinkbounc We can't expect to lose every week. Any time you don't gain is a success in my book!

Sorry to hear this week will be hectic, but if you rely on those healthy habits you've been creating, I bet you'll do just fine! :sunny:

Hey Val!:wave2: Great job with maintaining, especially if it wasn't a great week. You know I'd take maintaining anytime these days!!
Hope your week isn't too crazy or stressful. Try to find some time for yourself in there!!::yes::
Take good care of you Val!:sunny:

 Hi Angela, Doe, and Sharon! Thanks so much for visiting :D .

I forgot to post how I did on my goals last week and set some new ones for this week.

Last week:
Vitamins - goal met 7/7
water - goal met 5/7
fast food - not met goal 7/7 actual 4/7 :crazy2:
dessert - met 7/7
exercise - met 5/7 but not as much per day as I would like

New goals 4/11 - 17:
Vitamins - 7/7
water - 5/7
fast food - 5/7
dessert - 5/7
exercise - 5/7

If you notice I am making these goals a little more leniant since I know this week will be tough since TOM will be next week. I have already used 1 fast food and 1 dessert cheat for the week on Sunday so I hope I can make it with just one more of each. I really need to get back on track  .

So far for the week my goals are like this:

goals:
vitamins - 2/2
water - 1/2
fast food - 1/2
dessert - 1/2
exercse - 1/2

I have a meeting here tonight so I can't watch AI :( . It's going to be a busy day with the meeting, kids, and MIL and I have to find some time to work on invitations for a sorority event. Lots going on so I hope I can keep it together and find time to eat right and get to the treadmill.

That's all for now :wave2: .

Just read on the Community Board that there is no AI tonight. It will be on tomorrow and Thursday instead because Dubya's giving a speach.

I also took a peak at the scale and it read 158 :faint: :scared1: ! Maybe that was the kick in the pants I needed to get back OP. Let's hope so!

Well, that just blew my evening!:( I guess now I have to exercise tonight!
Your goals for the week look very good. I like how you've acknowledged that it is going to be a difficult week and left yourself room to fit everything in. Always better to set realistic goals and exceed them than to set them high and fail. ::yes:: And now you have your incentive to get back on track, so I am betting on you making it happen!:teeth:
Have a great day Val! This is the only kind of :sunny: your gonna see today!

Just have time for a quick post then I have to go tackle the dishes  . Goals are going okay although I didn't get to do treadmill yesterday since dh was hogging it  ! Did Pilates though. The snack monster has been hitting hard the past couple of days due to TOM's eminent arrival. I really need to resist tonight. Hope everyone has a great day and don't forget AI is on tonight at 8  .

Hi Val,

I'm sending some :wizard: to help you with the snack monster. I'll be watching AI with you. The Weasley has to go. I may vote for everyone, but the Weasley tonight.
:smooth:
Beth

Hey Valerie.....need help with the monsters?? I have some of those TOM monsters here too  keep telling that butterfingers aren't meant for snacking.
How about some soy nuts?? Or an apple or I have some fruit popsicles that are zero points. :) :)

Hey Val!
So the snack monster is visiting you too, huh? On the count of three, let's just boot him right out the door, okay? Ready...1, 2, 3.... kick! Okay.. he's gone for now! Let's just hope he doesn't come back!:teeth:

You are doing a great job Val with your goals! I like how you are being more lenient this week since TOM will be visiting soon. Thanks for the reminder about AI. I'm glad that it wasn't on last night because I was helping MIL with taxes and wouldn't have been able to pay attention anyhow.

Have a great Wednesday!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Val!

Here's some more ***:wizard: to fight off those muchies. I just came through them myself, and it got pretty ugly there for a few days.

Enjoy AI tonight and have fun with the Pilates!

~Angela :wave2:

 Hi all! Thanks for stopping by and kicking out those nasty monsters. I actually did pretty well on that front and only had a string cheese last night. I was able to leave the Easter candy alone, thankfully.

AI was interesting last night :D . As much as I like George, I didn't care for his song choice at all. Here's who I liked in order:
1.) Fantasia (really thought she was wonderful last night) 2.) LaToya 3.) Jennifer 4.) George 5.) Jasmine (surprise since I usually don't like her) 6.) Diana 7.)JPL (okay time for him to be going soon. I agreed with Simon on his performance last night) 8.) Weasely (But I'm sure he won't be going home). I think it will be Diana who goes tonight. Oh yes, and how cool was that to have Quentin Tarantino as the guest judge ::yes:: ?!

Goals are still on track for the week:
1.)vitamins 4/4
2.)water 3/4
3.)limit fast food 3/4
4.)limit dessert 2/4
5.)exercise 3/4

No more dessert for me this week. I woke up with a nasty sore throat so I really hope that doesn't throw me off the exercise track for today. Dh also has to work a 12 hour shift tonight 8 - 8 so I'll have to really work our schedule to get us both down to do treadmill.

I'm going to check in on some journals now.

Hey Val~
Here's some healing :wizard: for your sore throat. I hope that you feel better soon.

I agree with you about AI last night. I think Diana will get voted off tonight. Although not my favorite, John Stevens had a decent night last night so I think he'll make it into the next round. George (my favorite) was not on the money last night. However, I have no doubt that he will get through to the next round and have a great week next week. Fantasia, LaToya, and Jennifer were very good last night as well. I think I heard somewhere that Barry Manilow will be the guest judge next week. That should be interesting...:teeth:

You are doing a great job with your goals! Keep up the good work Val! Have a wonderful Thursday!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Tracy, thanks for stopping by.

Ds and I are both now sick. He's been up for the past two nights so I am exhausted. Of course dh comes home from work this morning to inform me that he has to work straight through the weekend. How great! Now I won't get a chance to catch a little extra sleep until next Saturday  ! Can you tell I'm not in the best mood this morning?

I'm going easy on myself and taking a break from exercising until I feel a little better so that's gonna blow my goals for the week. I'm just hoping next week will be better but I have the after school kids nine hours a day everday since there's no school so who knows when I'm going to find the time since I'll also have the second shift baby some nights too. Baby sitting 16 hours a day will sure tire me out.

On the bright side, Weasely was in the bottom two last night so yippee for that :teeth: !
