Okay, wearing my "Catwoman" jammies..... They are flame-retardant.... even have the little feet in them!

Someone on another post said they parked Valet free with a Handicapped tag. Is this true? I have a tag and use a cane/walker/wheelchair as the need arises due to severe arthritis (Somedays are good, somedays are not so good.) Since we have an ADR at Kona one of the nights we are there, I am just trying to plan ahead....

Now if I mention about parking at CR, going to Chef Mickey, then to MVMCP..... Oh, never mind.... lets not fan those flames any higher!!! :lmao: :rotfl:

I'm going to move this over to the disABILITIES forum where the experts can answer this best.

Thanks,

Knox

Yes, you have heard correctly. You can valet park for free with a handicapped placard. For many of the resorts, there are either too few handicapped spaces or they are located "too far" from the building, so Disney gives you complimentary valet parking. Just don't forget to tip the valet, that's NOT automatically included!

Enjoy the Magic!

Unless it has changed yes they will valet park your car for free if you have a HC tag or plate.

::yes::
That's true in most hotels.
I have had complimentary valet parking at a number of hotels when I was with DD (the 'holder' of the handicapped parking permit).

Disney Dining Experience guests also get free valet parking by presenting their dining receipt if it is for a short time at parks and resorts.

Disabled guests with tags can get free valet parking at resorts and Downtown Disney. The reciprocal law is that the person with a tag must meet the requirements for the state that the tag was issued. I used the valet parking back in 98 at downtown Disney and it was a life saver as it saved me a lot of walking.

Didn't know there was valet parking at Downtown Disney please tell me where this is,thank you

They did away with the valet parking in DTD several years ago

I checked with 5 sites to make sure that the policy had not changed and one book. I guess I was wrong, sorry.

If I remember correctly, we stayed at the Dolphin in 05 and we had to pay for the valet parking even with the tag.

That is possible since the Swan and Dolphin are not owned nor operated by Disney, so they have their own policy for valet.

How much do you tip the driver and when do you tip them? My mom will be traveling with us in December and she has the hang tag for my car and we would like to valet at CR and AKL (split stay :woohoo:)

My normal valet tipping policy is I will tip both on drop-off and pickup. I will tip $1.00 during good weather and $2.00 during bad (rain, unusually hot or humid) if my ECV is not involved.

If my ECV is involved, and they remove it from the trunk and assemble it, or disassemble it and put it in the trunk, my tip will then be $5.00 (each way) instead of the $1.00 or $2.00.

However, if I have my ECV with me and I do not get assistane, not only will there be no tip but I will locate a supervisor and discuss the matter with that person.

As stated Swan and Dolphin are not Disney hotels, they do charge for any parking, and they charge a LOT 17.50 for valet parking, however if you have the HC tage it is I believe 6.50 for valet parking there.

I know that the valet at the Poly (we had went to eat breakfast with Lilo & Stitch) saw our blue H/C tag and offered to valet park us free, so yes that is true. We chose not to, but did use the H/C parking up front... which is right by the valet area.

Thank you so much. I didn't want to tip too little, but didn't want to tip too much. We will probably park at CR when we check in and not move the car until we check out to move to AKL. We won't be putting the ECV's in the car, unless mom gets her own before we leave for our trip.

I learned something new today! Thank you so much for the info!

When pulling up for valet with a handicapped tag, do you have to tell them specifically that you're there b/c of the tag? Or do they just know? Do you tell them to park it in the handicapped lot? We've never used valet before..

I wish I knew this last year when we visited the Boardwalk. Handicapped lot was around the corner, over the bridge, around the check in area...quite a ways!

I just make sure my tag is hanging from the mirror. Most often they will see the tag hanging and will tell me there is no charge. If the valet mentions anything about cost I will just point out the tag to them.
