My BIL and DS will be staying at the CR at the same time we will. They were thinking about using valet parking. I told them that I think they charge $10 per day (am I correct?), but they were also wondering what the tipping procedures were? Do they tip each time they get their car ($2-$3)? Big tip at the end ($10-$15)? I have never used the service so I was not able to help out.

Thanks in advance!

We always tip every time the car is dropped off and picked up. You never know if you'll see that particuler CM again, and they do a lot of running in the FL heat/humidity/rain so we don't have to. Usually $2 each time.

However, we pretty much stopped doing this back when they started charging for it...unless it's raining we all just hoof it through the parking lot.

Thanks. I'll let them know. We are planning on self parking, maybe I can convince them to do the same.

Customary (in general) to tip Valet service when you pick up your car. If they'll be in and out, yes, a couple of dollars each time the car is brought to them - the personal service (of course, the car is free to tip after it's driven from the front entrance to the Valet lot ;) and yes, I'm joking). If they're just going to leave the car for the week, technically they could again just tip a couple of dollars, but they're also of course free to tip a larger lump sum.

I generally tip a couple of bucks when I drop off the the car and then a couple more when I pick it up.

The other thing to keep in mind is that valet parking is "transferrable"

For example, since you are staying at CR and if you pay for valet parking there, if you run over to one of the Boardwalk hotels for the evening, you don't have to pay for valet parking at the Boardwalk (besides any tips).

Certain hotels have better self parking situations than others. The CR, Poly and AKL are good. Yacht/Beach, and WL are decent. The Boardwalk and Grand Floridian are attrocious.

Tip when the vehicle is returned to me in the condition I left it with the valet team.

Tipping at drop off is neither expected nor required, but you are welcome to do so if you choose.
Tipping at pick up is expected each time and is normally $2 (up to $5 if you felt they went above and beyond.)

:goodvibes

I tip $3 upon return of the vehicle in good condition. $5 if it is raining. Once I tipped nothing at the GF as it took more than 20 minutes for them to bring the car back to me.
