Not aure if this has been brought up yet, but when did they change the valet parking perk for DVC members. Why is it only WLV, BCV & SSR that get this for free now? Aren't our dues high enough yet? Now they want another $10/day + tip to park the car! If I'd seen this sooner, I think we'd have opted to stay SSR this trip!

Where did you see this information?

SSR never had valet.

Just checked under Boardwalk on the member website:

Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Enjoy complimentary valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked.

Also posted under VWL & BCV. Didn't see it posted under BLT or AKV. OKW & SSR do not have valet.

The free DVC valet perk has always been (and still is) available at BWV, VWL, BCV, AKV and now at BLT. It is not (and never has been) available at OKW or SSR - since those resorts do not offer valet service. It is not (and never has been) available at any of the non-DVC resorts with valet parking.

At the DVC resorts with valet parking, members just need to provide their blue membership card to receive the free perk (gratuities are still appropriate though).

Sorry... you are right! It is BWV.. :confused3

Sorry Webmaster Doc to be the bearer of bad news.... It is right on the DVC member website.
Guess it is a new change!
Go to member privileges
then click on Walt Disney Annual Pass savings and More Disney Magic link.
Click on more Disney Magic and scroll to bottom!

Valet parking is now only available at WVL, BWV and BCV ..... $10 charge/day for all other DVCs.
No ifs ands or buts about it....:sad2: More money out if pocket... again!

Holy coW, this is correct, or at least that's what the memeber site says. I sure hope it's an error and BLT and AKV were accidentally left off by the illustrious Disney IT folks!

Your "quote" above has creatively added both the "now only available" and the "$10 chage/day for all other DVCs" (those comments are not from the current statement on the member's site). The Member's site has never been updated to include AKV and now BLT.

Here is the actual statement currently on the DVCmember.com site (this statement has remained unchanged for several years now):

"Valet parking is complimentary at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Just show your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card. Complimentary valet parking is not available at other valet parking operations or for Theme Park access.

You'll be charged the daily fee of $10.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. ..."

I have the current DVC Portable Perks in front of me (I just got a copy today) and under "Member RemindEARS"/ "Member Freebies" it states:

"Valet Parking is complimentary for Members at Disney's Boardwalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Disney's Contemporary Resort starting August 4, 2009. Parking is not available for Theme Park access."

This issue of the Perks is current July through December 2009 and I can assure you I would challenge anyone denying any of the perks listed in the printed publication handed out to all members currently staying at a DVC resort. ... No ifs ands or buts about it ... Much Ado About Nothing.

I doubt that portion of the website was ever updated to reflect the 2 newer resorts. OKW and SSR don't have valet parking at all, so there is nothing to offer "free" to members. The DVC resorts at WDW that have valet parking do offer it free to members, once the villas for that resort open. I haven't heard if this holds true for Disneyland, though. But they offer many other perks at Disneyland not offered at WDW.

That was my first thought, but I can't believe they haven't updated AKV!!:scared1: I mean, I DO believe you...it's just ridiculous.

Thanks Doc and Chuck!!

Apparently updating the DVC site is not a priority for the Disney IT department, they are more concerned with the site that the "general public" can view to book cash vacations. And while I think they should care about the DVC Member site, the fact remains that we've pre-paid, and in today's economy they do need to be very concerned with a fully functional website for those booking on cash, as they can change their mind and not travel.

When we asked for the free valet parking at AKV Jambo last month the CM said no, we didn't get it! :confused3 We parked ourselves and just walked from the lot and of course it started to rain. I was really annoyed :headache: when I looked at Portable Perks later which said that yes, we do get it--too bad I didn't have it with me in the car.

We had valet parking at AKV Jambo on Aug 31 and Sept 1. Showed them our DVC card, no charge, just tipped the valet when they delivered the car. I always keep my DVC members card out when leaving my car with the valet.

Thank you to those of you who have answered my question. It was a just a question.
I don't think I "creatively" added anything to my quote. When I read it on the official DVC member website while researching for our up coming trip.... the way it was written, was the way I perceived it.
Maybe Ill just call DVC next time so I am not seen as creative.

Love starting my weekend feeling this way

From the member website under "Walt Disney World Annual Pass Savings and More Disney Magic":

Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World Resort
Valet parking is complimentary at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Just show your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card. Complimentary valet parking is not available at other valet parking operations or for Theme Park access.

You'll be charged the daily fee of $10.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for Guests with disabilities who have the proper permits.

And like Chuck said, they are woefully slow in updating the member website.

So if your are a renter staying on someone elses points do you get free Valet parking if you show the room key or must it be the DVC members card you show?

Oh and how much do you usually tip each time?

That is a member perk and not transferrable to non-members.

You can always try the room key, but they have often been asking for the blue member card.

We usually tip $2 when we leave the car and the same when it's brought back to us.

Sounds like this is similair to the "free" internet access and access to the TOTW lounge at BLT.
A bit hit and miss whether you get it or not as a renter.

I have a question that I think I prolly already know the answer to...

We are driving :sad2: from Missouri in October with another family that are staying in our villa with us. There will be 2 cars going down.... Do we get the complimentary valet for both cars if both my husband and I have member cards..... or is it one valet per family?

Thanks in advanced for any answers...
