I know this has been asked and answered but I could not seem to find the thread (and can't find my "perks" brochure) Can DVC members valet park for free at DVC resorts if they are not staying at a DVC resort but are staying at a Disney Resort?

Perhaps someone could make this question a "sticky" if there is enough interest.

thanks in advance

You don't have to be staying at any resort, you could be an Orlando resident (DVC member) coming in for dinner and get free valet.

I believe the answer is yes. In fact, I believe you don't even need to be staying at a Disney Resort {Gasp!}. :smokin:

DebbieB's right......all you need is your blue DVC Member card for free valet parking at DVC resorts.....what's even better is a Disney Dining Experience card which gets you free valet parking at all resorts if you're coming for a meal.

Wherever you valet park, please remember to tip!!!

Thanks everyone! Thinking it is time to also get the DDE card. Always tip the valet - it is the right thing to do.

so if I'm renting points from a member to stay at DVC resort, I can't valet for free at other DVC resorts?

How much do you guys normally tip the valet?
Depends on the weather. If it's nice, $1.00 each for the dropoff and pickup. If it's raining more - $2.00 each.

Although I agree with this statement regarding valet parking at DVC resorts for DVC members, I have twice had difficulty obtaining this benefit at the BW. Each of the last two years, I've attended a professional meeting being held at the BW Convention Center. Since my employer will not reimburse me if I use my vacation club points, I've booked a couple of nights at the BWI each time, switching over to VB or SSR after the meeting ended for the rest of a week's stay in Florida. Both times, the BWI bill charged me for valet parking for my two-night stay, even though I had shown my membership card to the valet parker when I dropped off the car and pointed out the statement in the Portable Perks pamphlet when I disputed the charge at the front desk. The first time (January 2005), the CM at the desk simply made the adjustment, but insisted on making it clear that she was providing an accommodation even though I was not entitled to the benefit, no matter what it said in the Portable Perks pamphlet. The second time (January 2006), the CM refused to remove the charge. I had to ask to speak to the manager on duty. He also refused the benefit. I finally insisted that they call Member Services. At that point, MS confirmed that the benefit applied to DVC members independent of where (or even if) they were staying. I don't think the manager believed it even then, but finally I got the $14 deducted from my bill. I wasted way too much time taking care of this on principle, since I would not have used valet parking if I had to pay extra for it.

I do have the DDE card and have not had any problems valet parking for free at the GF or the AKL when we've eaten dinner at these resorts.

Oh, I tip $2 on drop off and $2 on pick up unless luggage assistance is also provided, in which case I add $1 per bag to the valet who loads the luggage cart (and another $5 to $10 to the bellperson who actually delivers the luggage to the room depending on the number of bags involved).

Renters are not technically entitled to free Valet parking even where you are staying. You may or may not get it depending on how they decide to do that instance.

DVC has specifically stated that the free valet parking is a perk of being a member regardless of staying on property or not. But it could change tomorrow on their whim.

So, just to clarify, if I am staying at a DVC resort on my trip and decide to go to let's say GF to eat, can I valet park for free there? Or did I not understand what was being explained :confused3

You only get the free valet parking at DVC Resorts.
If your are a DDE( Disney Dining Experience ) cardholder you get the free valet at all the resorts when going there for a meal.

Gosh that's a great perk I was unaware of. We are paying our first trip to our OKW Home tomorrow and are really excited - we will definitely take advantage of this perk. Thanks for the guidance on tips too :thumbsup2

I don't think OKW has valet parking, do they? Because you park outside of your room. I defintely know that BCV, BWV, and VWL have it because we have used it there before.

No, OKW & SSR do not have valet parking. It is only at the resorts where the villas are "attached" to a regular WDW hotel.

Thanks Guys but it was BVC and VWL I had in mind.
