Vacationing in Disneyland with Oxygen

My sisters and I will be in Disneyland the last week in April. We will be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. My sister has recently been required to use oxygen 24/7. I would like some helpful hints for seeing Disneyland while using oxygen. Are there restrictions for going on the rides? Can oxygen be taken on the rides? Are electric wheel chairs available in the Park?

Any suggestions you can give us will be appreciated. Thank you

I don't know about oxygen use in the park, but electric wheelchairs are available for rent. They are available where strollers are rented.

You can email the park ahead of time and they will give you instructions on all that. My niece has been to Disneyland and she has to have oxygen 24/7 also. I know that my brother was able to store all her medical stuff at the first aid station. They were very very accomaditing with her special needs.

First off visit the disAbilities board, http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20 . You will get lots of tips there. Second it would be much easier and less expensive to rent an ECV (electric scooter)off site. That way she can take it out of the parks all the way to her hotel. Here are some resources to check out for rentals. We don't have personal experience with any of them. They will deliver the ECV right to your hotel.

i dont know how it works with other attractions but on star tours if its a small bottle we let it on but if its a huge tank we have to ask the guest if they could be without there oxygen tank for 30 minutes (I know the ruide is four minutes but lots of things could go wrong so just in case) . I hope that helps.

They have ECVs (which stands for electric convenience vehicle). Those are a bit different than electic wheelchairs (which are not able to be rented onsite at any Disney parks). ECVs have a "tiller" to dirve them and are pretty easy to get the hang of. Electric or Power wheelchairs drive with a joystick. They are not as intuitive to learn to drive as ECVs are and require quite a bit more practice. They are not for rent in any of the Disney parks and are usually not for rent from off-site places either unless you already are exerienced driving one (many people might rent one because they don't feel comfortable traveling by plane with their own power wheelchair).

This is a link to the Disneyland Park's mobility disability page. They don't really have a page that meets your needs with oxygen specifically, but I thought this one might be helpful since you have mobility problems too. There is a link on the right side to download the Disneyland Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities. It doesn't really have much pertinent to your oxygen questions either, but is the only written information they have.
There is also a "Contact Us" link near the bottom of the page. I have had pretty good luck with emailing questions about WDW to the address on the Disney site. Just put something in the title or first few words that indicate you need disability information.

And, as was already suggested, you may wnat to visit the disABILITIES Board. Even though most of our posts are about WDW, there are some people who go to both parks and might be able to help you. Plus, the policies should be pretty similar at the different sites, so what people have found at WDW should be helpful info for you at DL.

thank you for your helpful information on using oxygen and renting wheelchairs in Disneyland.
