Okay- just think about it.

Your spouse/partner/live in/whatever you call your situation
is not into going on a vacation to a particular place. They would be happy letting you go do your thing.
DOES NOT MATTER WHERE, but you are contemplating going alone. YOU really wanna do this, would YOU go alone?:surfweb:

all opinions welcome

Absolutely!!! Talk about freedom, getting to do whatever you want whenever you want. Don't get me wrong, I love going places with my husband, but sometimes I just like being alone for a while too whether it's reading a book on the beach, or perusing Disney by myself.

I've done it. My Sister and I were planning a big trip to MA back in '96. We were going to Salem, Plymouth, up the cape, everything. She got a new job and cancelled a week before we were leaving. I really wanted to go so I just went alone. I had a good time, I would have enjoyed it more if she went too but I'm still glad I went and I had a good time too.

If I am not going with DH and the kids I am with friends. I do take short trips without him, 3 days usually but next January will be 4 days. Our full week vacation is together. This year we are taking a 2 week long trip. If DH did not like going places and was okay with me going then I would go without him.

I have gone to WDW alone, though I did occasionally meet DIS people there, it was great, I loved it.

I haven't gone anywhere else alone, but if I wanted to and noone would go with me, I would in a second.

I've gone to Disney alone many times. Each and every time was an absolute blast! :thumbsup2

I'm a pretty chatty person so I had no trouble striking up a conversation with the people I was in line with, waiting for parades/fireworks with, getting on the bus with, etc.

The only time I really missed being with someone was at meals. I still find it hard to go to a nice restaurant by myself. Being solo didn't stop me from doing it though.

I loved being at Disney "alone". Who in their right mind would have put up with me going on the ToT for 3 straight hours. :rotfl:

Yep! I have to tell you traveling solo has its benefits. Do what you want, get up when you want, eat what you want... I think you get the idea. Have fun!

I've done it several times. I love it!!!!

Id be there in a heartbeat...bankcard...check, relaxing book...check, umbrella drink...check...check. :thumbsup2

in order to have a great vacation, i leave mr mac at home and go yearly to the motherland and the darkside solo. have been doing it this way for 8 years.

i live for those 15 days of being alone and love it....

i also go visit my mother alone.......for some reason, he just is not into visiting relatives either.

we do certain trips together each spring and fall which we both enjoy.
usually it revolves around rev war or one of the battlefields of the civil war.

we are both into history and members of the Round Table.

if the spouse does not appreciate some of the places you do, go without him. just stock the fridge up with his favorites and leave him a note

not everyone enjoys doing florida yearly like i do.
i used to push it on him but found out we both have a better time doing a yearly solo trip

i do my florida thing and he does his ride across america thing.

we both end up happy.

I've done it a couple times and plan to go to Disneyland alone next month (although I hope to meet a friend one day there). People have said to me "it's more fun with someone else". Yes it is, but on those trips no one else wanted to go, so the choice was go alone or stay home. I'm used to traveling by myself for work, so it's not a big deal to me. I look at it as a relaxing time, no schedules.

Yes. I really like my own company.

ME TOO!!!! and if I had to wait on going some place on others I may not ever go! I have gone skiing on my own, Disney on my own, and countless other locations, I gave up long ago trying to get people to go places if they want to go then great if not I am not going to give up an opportunity to travel. Life is to short to let even one day get by and we soon are to old to enjoy some things. You will find that if you open yourself up to others "MOST" will talk back I have met so many interesting people this way.

Well, I'm a single mom, and we went to Disneyland last year. IT was awesome and I'm so glad I did it. We drove 3,000 mi round trip. It was a blast.

I am wishing I could go back again in June, but there's no chance.

Enjoy your vacation!

Last month I took DS3 to Disneyland, leaving DH and DS7 home. It was DH's idea, he thought I needed a break from the Seattle winter gloom, but he couldn't get away from work, and DS7 couldn't miss more school.

While I was nervous about traveling alone with my very active 3yo, we had a wonderful time, actually met up with some DIS friends during our 3 day stay, and I could totally picture myself taking the boys places by myself this summer when DS7 is out of school. :thumbsup2

go for it. i'm planning a trip alone. i want to do a horseback riding trip in ireland. no one else wants to go with me, so i'll go alone.

I haven't ever vacationed solo. It just hasn't come up. I did leave my husband home once for a trip to WDW, but I was going with my mom and sister.

Would I go solo? For me, personally, it would depend. To somewhere like WDW or Universal, where I've been dozens of times and feel completely comfortable? In a heartbeat. To somewhere that I've never been? Probably not. That would be too far outside my comfort zone.

However, if you feel comfortable exploring the world on your own, I say go for it and have a blast! Just make sure you take pictures and tell us all about it when you get back... :goodvibes

So yankeepenny, are you going to WDW or were you planning a trip somewhere else?

hey yankee penny...........

if you want to do the motherland and darkside starting the first week of october, meet me there!
