We absolutely LOVED this hotel. We even started calling it "home" because it felt so much like one. We loved the convenience to everything, etc. It was extremely clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated.

However, we did not attend a sales presentation. Has anyone done that? How long did it last and how much were the units? Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.

Loved it!! :cheer2:

Good to know. We're staying there first week of December. Very much looking forward to it--our first trip to WDW. My mom and dad will be doing the sales presentation thing so I'll be glad to let you know about it after that.

We just returned from a stay at this resort, and I have to say, it is the best!

It is sooooo clean! The people there are really nice, and they are all so helpful too! I had a ressie at Orbit One, but decided to change it and go for VV @ Pkwy. I probably will still try OO, but we had such a good time at VV. The workers are always doing something everyday to spiff everything up---it just really stays so clean. I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. We did not do a timeshare tour, though, so I can't comment on that.

don't buy any timeshare in Orlando.

they are so many they are easy to trade into.

plus orlando has some of the highest annual fees around.

the competition is so bad that everyone must kept the units up or will lose their rating with RCI or II.

so if you want a timeshare buy one close to you and trade to Orlando. It will cost less than owning in Orlando.

Thanks for the advice. The reason why I am asking is because while we were there, we got the call to attend the free breakfast, etc. They had not made their quota for that month, so they were offering $120 instead of the usual $50 to attend. My parents wanted to attend because of the large offer, but I talked them out of it (since I have been to those before and they took up a lot of time). I talked them in to going to the parks instead.

At first they didn't really mind that they had missed the sales presentation, but after a few days, they started to care because they liked VV@ Parkway so much. Plus the fact that it was $120.

So, needless to say, I feel guilty since I talked them out of going and was more curious than anything about what they missed. If they were going to be held up most of the day, then it wouldn't have been worth it. But, if it was only for a couple of hours then I would feel bad. Plus, we all wondered how much those units were for the rest of the week. I tried calling, but never got someone from sales who could give me an answer.

So, now it is a big mystery and my parents are less $120. :guilty:

Buy resale...is our tip:)

Tell them they can rent a week again - if they would like - go to the timeshare pitch, find out the info, say NO!...go home and browse www.tug2.net .

Better yet, hit TUG before doing anything!

So much great information...links to companies with resales, and yes, Parkway is available for sale through a resale company:)

HTH!!

We have stayed at these timeshare type places. We stopped, and have been renting vacation condos from owners since. Our favorite is www.disneyuniversalcondo.com. Newer unit - very clean and nice.

I was there a few weeks ago..Oct 16-23. I only had the 1Br- part kitchen but I loved it too, and will definitely be back. I asked at the desk when checking out what at annual maintience fees were and for a 2 Br ( both the A&B) it's $555.00 per year.

I didn't go to the presentation (I've got one in Mexico) and DH wasn't there so I wouldn't have qualified anyways.

It lasted the 2 hours but then again we are adamant about keping them on the allotted time.

We stayed at Orbit One last year and their salespitch was for Vacation Village. We were tied up for over 3 hours - but that included travel between Oribit One and breakfast and then VV. We got $150 for going, but it was pretty high pressure . . . The price started at over $20,000 and by the 5th and final "no thanks" on our part we were offerred 1/3 ownership for just under $10,000. Since we are able to buy weeks so inexepensively, we really don't have an interest in owning . . .

We did absolutely fall in love with the place  and are staying there the week after Thanksgiving this year. All in all, I'm glad that we got to see the units and the cash was nice - - but that being said we won't do it again.

In my II catalog it lists Parkway International Resort. Is this the same thing. We're trying to choose a place for June and I really want to pick a nice one.

VV @ Parkway is a RCI resort.

parkway international is a sister resort but affiliated with II

VV is affiliated with RCI

they are in the same "complex" area

Parkway International Resort trades via II. It was taken over several years back by the Berkley Group who developed Vacation Village (RCI) on the adjacent land. So VV is newer but they're connected by a walkway. AFAIK, guests at these two sister properties may use amenities at both.

In II, my first choices would be:
--- a Disney resort (DWL, DBW, BCV, SSR?, DVO)
--- then a Marriott (MCP, MIP, MGV, MGR, MSP, MRP, MHZ)
--- then Sheraton Vistana, Parkway International, Cypress Pointe, Wyndham Palms, Fairfield Star Island or perhaps Sunterra Polynesian Isles (VIT, PKY, CYO, PCC, VBR, STR, PYI).

HTH! :sunny:

Thank you so much Lisa P.! It is so hard to pick a place, we have always stayed on Disney property (not with the t.s.), so this is a first. You hear so many horror stories about some of these time shares. I don't want to make a mistake. My husband picks his vacation weeks for the year next week and then I will make my choice from what is available. Do you know how far in advance to get the best place for mid-June? Should I book something as soon as he knows the week or be patient and wait? Thanks again for your help! LUVMYCHOCLAB

With II, it's not uncommon to get a match later than with RCI. Since you're not looking for a major holiday week and it's II, I'd probably just request my first choices ASAP. If I didn't match one of them by the year's end, then in early January, I'd add my second choices to the list searching. If still nothing matched by the end of February, I'd broaden the list as much as possible. This would be my approach and I'd be comfortable with it but YMMV.

There's usually some II inventory in the fall & winter for Orlando travel in mid-June. So don't stress over this unless you own a very, very poor trade week. FWIW, strong matches in RCI may require planning about 4 months earlier than with II, IMO. HTH!

Thanks Lisa...
I've been reading your posts since I bought some Sky Auction certificates for getawayweeks through RCI.

There were some great resorts available BUT Sky AUction took its darn time getting me the certificates and now it is slim pickings.

I have a courtesy hold on VV at Parkway for the Suite A (full kitchen) side 1 bedroom. THey also had Fairfield at Cypres Point and a SUmmer Bay 1 bedroom...but neither of those said they had a big tub/jacuzzi in their 1 bedrooms and I am a tub kind of girl.

So if you had your choice between these 3, which would you choose?
I'm going solo but invited 2 girlfriends over from Tampa.
We have APs to WDW so we really won't need much in the way of activities off site...just the nicest furnished and most spacious of the 3.

THanks for all your help!
