Does anyone have a current transportation schedule to the Disney parks for Vacation Village? We have never stayed here but got a great deal through RCI. I have read the shuttle is crowded but I can't find the times anywhere. Can anyone help? Also, do the shuttles do to downtown Disney?

Did you get a Last Call?

We did, for 6/20-6/27 -- what a great bargain!

We won't be going to the parks; just chillin' and touring around while our daughter is in a Duke University camp at Eckerd College in St. Pete. (Mommy couldn't stand being 4 hours away in Miami...)

I'm also wondering about the shuttle. Staying in September split stay with gf for a conference, then off to vacation Villiage at parkway. I'm actually hoping to use the shuttle to go check in, as well as to come back to the park.

$209 plus tax can't be beat. I would love more information on the place though.

We got a Last Call one-bedroom for $269 + tax and some minor fees, I believe. The total for the full week was $303 and I think we have to pay $25 or so on arrival.

(ETA: This is for a one-bedroom A, which is the larger side of a 2 BR lock-off, and has a full kitchen. The B unit has a partial kitchen.)

They have a decent website which will give you a lot of info. Here's a link: http://www.vacationvillageresorts.com/VVR/vacation_village_parkway/

According to the website, they have a scheduled shuttle service to Disney World's TTC, Universal, and Sea World.

It looks like a nice-enough resort, high-rise and high density with about 2,000 units. The pictures look good, but I guess we'll see when we get there.

$45 per night for a one-bedroom with full kitchen -- we'll take it. ::yes::

We got a side B for $209. RCI had a sale last weekend. I e-mailed trying to get a shuttle schedule. I will post if I hear anything.

I stayed there a few years ago, on a similar last-minute sort of deal. It's not in the upper tier of area timeshares, but I had the same reaction Jim does: it's a nice-enough resort. There are some places where you can tell the developer went cheap---vertical blinds rather than proper curtains, cheap plastic cabinet handles, etc. But, it wouldn't be a bad place to hang out for a week, especially at last-call kinds of prices. You are only one or two traffic lights to/from any WDW park, so the location is good.

It's an RCI Gold Crown resort, but that doesn't mean it's a palace. We'll see when we get there.

We're staying there on our trip next week. I called last night to ask about transport times and here's what they told me.

The gal I talked to may have been a bit confused, because she said that guests on the shuttle were dropped off at Epcot and then transferred to the other parks from there, rather than the TTC.

She said they left the resort at 7:30 AM, 8:00, 8:45, 10:30, 11 11:45, and 12:25 PM.

They return to the resort from Epcot at 5:45, 8:45, and 10:45.

You might want to double check where they drop off because other than the fact that Epcot is probably the most centrally located of the parks it makes no sense to me that they drop off there instead of the TTC.

Otherwise, I would rent a car.

Here's what their website says: "... scheduled shuttle service to and from Disney Transportation Center, Universal Studios and Sea World."

However, I agree with you that Epcot would be both quicker and better as long as you have park-hopper tickets. Without park-hoppers, you'd have to figure out how to get to DHS without going through Epcot. At either location, getting to Animal Kingdom would require some work, but you could easily get to the other parks and DTD.

Also, at Epcot, you could easily hop on the bus to any Disney resort if you were going for a character meal, etc.

We have stayed at both Vacation Village at Parkway and Wyndham Bonnet Creek. We found the pools at WBC to be better in size and theming, but we thought the condos themselves were very comparable. Both were large, clean, nicely decorated (good color scheme & nice furniture), had soaking tubs, etc. WBC had granite counters in the kitchen and bath, while VVP did not. WBC is also closer because it's on property. VVP is still super close - like 5 minutes - and we never hit any traffic coming or going during our late July stay. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

We are currently at Vacation Village at Parkway. We got a shuttle schedule at checkin, but frankly it is pretty confusing.

The schedule says buses depart for Epcot at 7:30, 8:00, 8:45, 10:30, 11:00, 11:45, and 12:25pm. Also Universal and Sea World at 11:25 am.

Return buses from Epcot at 5:45, 8:45, and 10:45 PM. Returns from Sea World at 7:00 PM and Universal at 7:45 PM. Also a return from MK TTC at midnight when MK is open after 11pm.

If anyone has questions, call the Platinum Transportation dispatcher at 407-492-8888. I think that's actually a cab company dispatcher, so I don't know how helpful they will be.

Could someone please tell me how to book this? Thanks ;)
I have seen rentals on eBay.

The "Last Call" that we got (which is dirt cheap) is a cash rental thru RCI that can only be made 6 weeks or less from your arrival date. We were actually looking for something on the west coast of Florida, but this was the best we could get on that short notice. It's been fine.

[ETA: if you know someone who is an RCI member, a Last Call is doable. You will have to pay an extra guest charge as noted above (which may vary depending on the timeshare your friend owns), but it will still be a great deal if you are comfortable waiting that late. Orlando is a very overbuilt area for timeshares and there are always Last Calls available somewhere. We had a choice of 5-6 resorts, most of them RCI Gold Crown resorts.]
