I'm currently in the process of buying dvc resale with AKL as our home resort. The contract was sent to Disney for ROFR 2 weeks ago, so it could still be a while before we officially close.

I'm trying to plan a trip for the end of August (Dream Season). I need advice about booking our stay. Assuming the dvc resale process goes smoothly and I close sometime in the middle of May, do I have a good chance of being able to book a studio at AKL or another resort other than SSR or OKW (I'm open to a split stay)?

IMO, yes for AKV, SSR or OKW, especially if you are open to all booking categories for studios. You may have to waitlist, but the odds would seem to be in your favor.

Odds are not very good for the other resorts, but you never know. Good luck!

I wrote the article that CarolMN quoted. I bought at AKV early March about 2 years ago. Our material closed middle to late May.

I think there is a slight outside chance you MIGHT be able to get a Savannah View room at Kidani -> but realistically I think that you will have to "Settle" on OKW or SSR if you want to get a studio. If you were looking at a 1-bedroom you might have a shot at other locations in late-August. Both early August and late September are easier than late August. Because late August is a "Shoulder season" - Dream Season - and a lot of people from the Northern portions of the country still have kids out of school at that time of year, it does fill up faster than early August (higher point season) or early September (kids all in school).

My husband and sons got stuck in Disney the nights of Aug 31 and Sept 1, 2015. I was able to get them both nights in a standard studio (I booked it Aug 29). So there is hope.
