Vacation Planning free "magic"

I found out something super cool today when I called the GCH. Vacation Planning will provide guests staying at any of the three Disney hotels, without charge, some magic. Magic comes in the the form of pins (birthday, 1st time visitor, etc), balloons, and/or an 8x10 glossy autographed photo of your favorite character. If they don't have your favorite they might give you one of the Fab 5. Anyway, thought I'd share.

I did this for my DD 16th birthday in 2007. I requested a captain hook picture and got one with him, peter pan and mr. smee. She loved it!!

I am so excited. I am going to get balloons for DH for Father's Day and the kids a photo. I am also going to see if they can buy some Disney Dollars with my cc to have for the kids upon arrival.

We just checked in to the GCH on Tuesday. We are here for my DD's bday. The CM left for a LONG time to go to the back. My husband was worries somerhing was wrong. Like they didn't have a room, hadn't received
our paid in full reservatoion etc. Well out comes the CM with 5 balloons, birthday pins, and a signed
picture from Minnie wishing DD a happy birthday. I almost started to cry! She was so happy! Very magical touches! It will be hard to stay anywhere else.

When we stayed there 3 years ago we got the signed black and white photos and the 1st time visitor badges, it was a really nice surprise for the family.

I called the GCH directly so I would call the DLH's direct line.

We've gotten free goodies before - at both GCH and PPH - but I had told the CM on the Central (Room Only) Reservations phone number when I booked the room that we were celebrating birthdays, so they made a note of it in the system and then addressed it when we got there.

At the GCH, we got free Tinkerbell pins, we got a voucher for even more pins, and we got the famous birthday buttons.

At PPH, we got birthday buttons and 2 8x10 black and white photos. The CM who checked me in actually did not ask who the favorite character was (but I had told the CM on the phone when I booked the room), and she went in a back room for several minutes, then brought out the photos. She brought us out a Donald Duck photo - which I still have - and also a photo of 4 or 5 Princesses, which my friend didn't want so I sent it one of the DIS-ers on this board. (By the way, I never told them Donald and the Princesses were our favorite characters, which they are not, but when she handed them to me I wasn't about to complain because they were free and it was a nice gesture!)

In any case, Vacation Planning wasn't involved in our goodies, but it sounds as if the free goodies are more or less the same across the board.

When I made some changes to our Disney package I got a wonderful CM on the phone who asked me who my daughters' favourite princesses were. I know she put it into the notes, because when I called later to make anther change and confirm our requests, they read that back to me. I wonder if they will try to get an autographed picture for them or something?
