Hi all!
We are going to Disney on Nov. 9-16th. I have already paid the deposit, but am now wondering if we should purchase insurance(declined at first). What benefit does this add. My DH is worried about a hurricane, would this cover that, it is hard to find info about this. Can anyone help?

We purchased it for our mid-November trip last year (and this year, same dates) and I had very specific questions answered. I was pregnant with a high possibility of being put on bedrest, so I had lots of questions regarding pregnancy. I also asked about hurricanes.

I have a document detailing the insurance that I printed out, but it was an adobe document so there is no website listed on the page that I can give you. Call Disney and ask them for the direct number of the insurance carrier. Ask them your questions, and ask them for the website to print the info.

The phone # on the front of my printout is 1-407-828-8101, assuming they have not changed carriers in the last year.

one major benefit it adds is health coverage. allot of private health insurance does not travel out of state unless the person is being treated for a 'life threatening' issue. on our first ever wdw trip both kids came down with ear infections. 7 years ago the cost for med exams were $199.00 each, and antibiotics were around $40 each. so my trip insurance paid $480 worth of bills my private carrier would not have covered.

So it sounds like it is worth it for health coverage reasons. What if your trip has to end early, due to a death(heaven forbid) in the family. My grandmother has not been doing so good, and we just put her into a nursing home. We hope she does better, but what if something happens?

I was worried about this too since my son always gets an ear infection at the worst times (like vacation and holidays :sad2:) and my daughter was just told we need to carry an epipen from now on....anyways...I called my medical insurance company to ask several questions.
Our insurance company said that as long as we went to a Dr. who carries our insurance (in network) it would be covered. Just need to pay the co-pay. Out of network of course was more money.
If you're looking to get insurance for the medical coverage I would call your insurace co. BUT.........It can never hurt to have extra coverage for the just in case problems..
Good Luck in what ever you decide...and have a great trip. :)

Doesn't the insurance have to be added before your final payment? Or is it before the final payment is DUE (45 days out)? That is what the AAA rep told me :confused3

Mousesavers has a section on trip insurance with tips you might find helpful:
http://www.mousesavers.com/misc.html#tripins

She mentions Insuremytrip.com as a good place to look at some different insurance plans.

hth!

We declined the insurance also. Our dates were fixed (school break) and the nonrefund airline tix bought. Oct/Nov are usually safe bets for weather. Our health insurance travels with us.

When we drive and have room only reservations we don't get insurance, but when we have a package and non refundable airline tickets we do.

It also covers you if a family member is ill and you would have to cancel or if heaven forbids you have a death and would have to cancel. I went through mousesavers and it was less than $100. If you would lose more than $100 to cancel it maybe something to look at.
