I read that you are hesitant to head to the West Coast for such a short visit, but I would definitely put Napa on your list for future trips. We went for our 15th anniversary and it was wonderful. What about somewhere like Maine or New Hampshire? I don't have any great ideas, but it might be cooler.

If you both like the arts (museums, theatre, dance, Boston Symphony) and nature (Botanical gardens, hiking, strolling in small towns) - take a look at the Berkshires in Mass. berkshires.org

We have enjoyed 2 long weekends in Boston. It's a fun city with lots to do.

What about Niagra Falls? You can rent a car and even drive to Toronto from there.
