I'm a little worried. I am renting a vacation home next spring. There are guests renting that home the week before and are scheduled to check out the day we arrive.
I'm concerned maintenance won't do a good job cleaning, and cleaning the pool correctly.
Am I just being paranoid?

I've stayed in vacation homes three times, all of which had a check-out time of 11 a.m. and a check-in time of 4 p.m. to give staff adequate time to clean the home.

On my last stay, the cleaning staff was still there and they said it usually takes them two to three hours for general cleaning unless the occupants are slobs.

The first time we rented, the house wasn't ready on time, because it needed more cleaning time. They didn't let us in until it was ready about 5 p.m.

I've stayed in vacation homes three times also and every time the homes were IMMACULATE. So much so I came home and was DETERMINED to live up to their standard. Then I remembered that no one really lives there 24/7! :p

The toilets were sanitized and closed with paper and the towels were folded and clean, even all of the cupboards and cabinets were organized and spotless. It makes it very easy to keep it that way, also.

These vacation homes sound great!

It really depends on the company you rent from and the quality of the staff. Some MC's use contractors and some employ their own staff.

We prefer to employ our own people as we have total control over the quality of the service. Each of our cleaners is issued with a 150 point check list for a 3 bed home , 160 for a 4 bed, etc and they also have a seperate check list to record the condition and quantity of towels, sheets, etc. We have found that standards have increased dramatically since introducing this system over 3 years ago and very rarely do we ever get a complaint. Obviously, human error comes into play now and then and our housekeepers do make mistakes from time to time but overall the homes are kept in great condition. Robinrs can testify to this, hopefully !

In regard to the pools - every MC has someone who visits the home once per week to clean and put chemicals in the pool. Very rarely are more visits needed but occassionally we do get a storm that can blow sand and a few bugs into the pool. All the homes we look after have screened enclosures so it's very rare for anything else to get in. When something does get into the pool, we supply a pool net so that you can scoop anything that troubles you out !

That's just the way we do it and anyone who has stayed with us will be able to say just how good it is ! We are always open to ideas to improve our service though !

We've rented homes in Kissimmee 4 or 5 times. They were always exceptionally clean when we arrived (cleaner than our own house, I'm sad to say).

One tip for you: find out exactly how the alarm system works when you check in. One time, our house alarm went off and we could not figure out how to disable it. We had to wait about 15 minutes with the alarm blaring before they finally turned it off from the central office.

We have rented vacation homes for about 5 years now, and without exception, have found them immaculate. We wish we could live in them all year!
While we looked after the interior of the house during our stay, we always had pool people come weekly to clean and service it.
You'll love your stay!

These sound great.
We are going in February, are the pools heated ?
What are the cost nightly/weekly ?
Can you point me to a link for these homes ?
thanks

Chach,
You have to pay extra to have your pool heated and different companies have different rates as different homes have different pool heating systems !

In February you are almost certain to need pool heat so remember to ask for it and add it to your total cost.

Chach,
I agree with FLeiusre, you will need your pool heated in Feb and the amount varies widely! When we were researching rentals, I found rates as high as $30/day (I think we paid $115 for the week).
We found our rental through www.vrbo.com and we were thrilled with everything, the price, the cleanliness, the location and I enjoyed dealing directly with the owner! This listing has plenty of rentals of varying sizes...you should be able to find just what you need! Good luck!

We have rented vacation homes on several of our visits. Last year we stayed at Wyndham Palms Resort, which has recently changed names to Windsor Palms. We absolutely love the place and will not stay anywhere else, in fact we are staying there again during spring break.

What community are you staying in? I would have to agree with the others, it depends on the management company, but the check out times are early enough to ensure a thorough cleaning. Each time we have rented we rented from Global, they came highly recommended and have their own cleaners.

We are staying in Formosa Gardens. We went thru VRBO. I am fairly after reading these posts that everything will be in order.

That is right up the street from where we stayed. All of the homes in that area are fairly new. I am sure everything will be just fine and you will thoroughly enjoy the house.

Keep us posted. We believe when you visit the Mouse stay in a House!
