vacation home locations?

When are the worst times for traffic by WDW? Just curious if you can try to avoid some of it...

Peak seasons - Christmas and Easter.
Summer time - June - Mid August. Around 9am - 11am every morning is the worst time.

I did it again today.....

From Disney turn off on US 192 to :

Formosa Gdns Blvd (Indian Creek, Sunset Lakes, Rolling Hills area etc) 2 miles - 4 minutes.

Lindfields Blvd - 4.7 miles - 7 minutes

US 27 turn off - 6.9 to 7.2 miles (ramp is 3/10 mile) - 9.5 minutes

Highlands Reserve - 10.1 miles - 13 minutes

Westridge / Hampton Lakes - 10.8 miles - 14 minutes

Calabay Parc - 11.9 miles - 15 minutes.

Note all times were set at quietest part of day (around noon) and with very little traffic on roads. Further, the journey from Disney to location is usually the easiest way.....ie., a morning journey into Disney will not be as quick.

I drove from Disney maingate / US 192 turn off today down to Westridge. It took me 15 minutes and 26 seconds at normal speeds ! I've got to go there again tomorrow so will time that as well !

I didn't time the return trip unfortunately as I had to go elsewhere but if you hit the traffic at the wrong time of year it will take considerably longer.

I always use US 27; Ronald Reagan Parkway - through Champions Gate and up I4

I'll give that a try one day next week....can't see it being any quicker but I'm open to being proved wrong. My biggest concern with that route is I4 which can be a lottery at times..partic. in a morning.

To tell the truth, I've never gone completely round the Orme in nearly 27 years - nor have I gone up Snowdon!!

I'll go to the Orme tomorrow, flash my ID and give it a go. (No need to pay £2.00 if you don't have to!)

Mind you, my watch seems to run significantly slower than yours

You'd better be careful.....I did it on a rally ! Closed roads etc !
If you can get round there in under 4 mins when it's open to the public then good luck to you !!

I trust there's no speed camera's on there......yet !

HI FLeisure and MalcolmC,I did not end up booking one in Calabay Parc.The home I booked is in the Hampton Lakes development. It's a 5 Bedroom/4 Bath with Pool/Jacuzzi and an extended pool deck.It looks wonderful.I'm glad to read that it's not too far from the parks! The website is www.villaraymar.com
Hope I made a good choice! Were not going unit December so I'll be sure to come back and give a full review!!
