We are planning our 8 night trip to WDW and would like to stay in a Vacation Home close to Disney. What experiences have you had and what are the best locations to stay?

Hi, we are also doing 8 days in July. We booked our 3 bedroom townhouse through allstarvacationhomes.com. Our house is only 3 miles from WDW. I've never stayed with them before, but I've heard nothing but great things about them and they have been great with the reservations. they have a huge variety of home sizes and prices and you can view slide shows for any of the properties. You will be able to pick the one you want.

Hope this helps.

Hi we have stayed at in a few homes now, we prefer to book direct with the owner.

The estate we are going to in July is Highgate Park which is just of H27 about 8 miles from Disney. We have stayed here before and we like it, the homes are really nice and spaced out, its really quiet, no noise from the road, as its quite a way back of legacy. Its only 8 miles from Disney and handy for I4 if we want to go shopping at Millenia or visit Universal. i think we've found our perfect place ;)

We us www.cyberrentals.com and www.orlandoexclusivevillas.com

I would suggest Windsor Hills of course! :thumbsup2 One of the newest, nicest, and closest resorts to WDW!

All Star and others (which are MCs = mgmt companies) rent in this resort too, but at a markup, on this site you can rent directly from the owners!

We've stayed at Windsor Hills twice and really like the resort. We're planning to take the whole family this time in Nov. It's only 5 min to AK and a little longer to other Disney parks. Other developements in the same general area include Emerald Island, Formosa Gardens, Indian Creek,Rolling Hills, Acadian Estates, Windsor Palms, Oak Island Cove, Sunset Lakes etc.
Try vrbo.com and homeaway.com and rent directly from the owners.

We have had GREAT experiences renting offsite. We feel it is the only way to go now for us! I would highly recommend any of the neighborhoods and homes in my signature, but there are hundreds of fabulous places. Happy searching!

We have had a wonderful time renting a villa and now that is the only way we will travel for a week long vacation. We like to use www.vrbo.com. If this is your first time renting a villa off site, you might want to stay at one of the closer developments. The Formosa Gardens area is really nice and they have really nice developments like Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms, Emerald Isle, Indian Creek... We have been staying further out in the Davenport area and we really enjoy that, but it does add an additional 10 minutes to our commute to the parks. For us, we have found it is worth the additional commute because we have found the villas in this area fit our budget a bit better. Good luck.

How many are you? Is a giant pool and hot tub important alot or just a little?
What price range are you looing into?
I've stayed in a condo through www.floridasunshine.com It was Brittania 2 at island club resort.(about 10min to WDW) It was great but next year we have decided to go with the same company but a differnt resort we are trying Windsor hills since it has more to offer on things to do at the resort and we don't plan on doing WDW so we need entertainment on the resort. But if you plan on being at the parks everyday then go with a less expensive resort but no matter what I strongly suggest a condo/villa or townhouse or house and do your home work:surfweb: count:teacher: every thing in to concideration.

This is were we are staying in July.

Yes thats Highgate Park, very nice and quiet and only 10 minutes to Disney. We are going there in September/October and cant wait. We have also been last year as well and all the villas are big there. I think we have almost the same view Mungo!!!!

We got our booking through orlandoexclusivevillas.com booking straight from their site online, you book direct with the owner.

I highly recommend Windsor Hills, close enough you can go back for a rest or lunch.

Check out www.romancingthemouse.com
We stayed there in January. After searching the web this one had lots of things included that other homes you had to pay extra for.You are renting directly from the owners. They actually meet you at the house with cookies.

There is going to be 6 of us (or maybe 7 depending on if we have a baby by then :)) Myself, DH, DD8 (she will be then), My sister 23, My parents (50's).
Yes we want a heated pool. My DD8 would just think that was the best. This trip is basically all about her. We are going there for her birthday. I have seen some houses that have Princess decorated rooms one had a Castle bed and a Lizzy McGuire room. The house was so beautiful but it was $2600. We are looking more in the $1600 and under range. We want to be close to Disney since we are spending most of our time there. I have been looking at Townhomes and Condos but we really want our own private pool. Even though we are going in December I love sitting outside in a heated pool. We really only need 3 or 4 bedrooms but large enough for us to relax and not feel like we are on top of eachother the whole trip. I hope that helps. I appreciate the websites. I have been requesting quotes left and right of different properties.

You would be surprised at the difference between what some owners charge and what they will take. Think of it like "rack rates" at a WDW hotel. Savvy DISers need at least a 10% AAA discount, and often get 40% or more with APs and codes. The home rental market is the same: many owners will discount heavily to get the dates booked.

So, if there is an expensive home you like, why not just inquire and see what the asking price REALLY is?
