vacation help...

So a group of 3 families (including my own) likes to go on vacations together. We try very hard to make the vacatons enjoyable yet economical. We jsut went to Hershey park for the weekend and really enjoyed it. We are already thinking about next year. can anyone suggest places to go where we can drive that will be fun for everyone? I am thinking no more than a 4 hours drive from the greater NYC area as we can only for a long weekend. Info on who goes and where we have been appears below.

Most everyone likes the to do simialr thigns but being able to accomodate different likes is always good.

Where have we been:
Disney (we did not drive but we all went as part of a dance trip)
Hershey Park

Places I am thinking of:
Lake George
Lake Compounce (is there enough to do in the area for 2 days?)

Philadelphia. There's loads of history, and it's a great family trip. It looks like it's only 2 hours away from NYC.

Baltimore, we love going there! Great zoo, great aquarium, LOTS of stuff to do and see!

I second Baltimore. Why not find a hotel between Baltimore and DC and split your time. There are so many things to do in DC for free or small fee. Kids are great age for all of the museums and such!

You could also rent a house for the weekend at a lake in the Poconos or go to Great Wolf Lodge - we've done that with a couple of friends. We've also gone to Fernwood Resort and rented a villa when my DDs had a dance competition there and our friends' kids wanted to see them compete.

Go to Lancaster, PA. I 2nd the Washington/Baltimore trip but you may need more than a long weekend if you want to do both together.

Another idea is the Jersey Shore. Cape May is great as well for long weekends.
