Hi, we just returned from WDW. We used Vacation Express out of AVP (Wilkes-Barre - Scranton airport).

We left on Friday April 30th. The flight was about 3/4 full. Checking in was quick, no line. We got there about 5:45 for a 6:45AM flight. There was a short line at the security checkpoint, but we breezed through that in 5 minutes. The flight started boarding about 6:35, we took off around 6:55AM. It was a big 737, 3 seats on each side of the aisle. Staff was friendly and nice, no problems to speak off. Sanford airport was dead when we arrived about 9:15AM, right on time! The airport was easy to navigate. There were no porters around to help with luggage, so we rented one of those 3 dollar carts to get our stuff around. Dollar rental car was very SLOW even though it was not busy. They were washing the cars which caused the 15-20 minute wait for a car. According to the dollar agent, the airport does not get busy until noon or so.

The drive to Disney was a breeze, it took about 40 minutes. We used 417 South, about 5 dollars in tolls on the way down.

Coming home this past Sunday the Sanford airport was dead again. We arrived about 2 1/2 hours before the flight departure (5:45PM). We had to wait about 20 minutes before the agents arrived to check in. No lines anywhere, flight left on time with almost a full plain. I would recommend Vacation Express to anyone!

Tips for Sanford aiport, Vacation Express is in terminal B. If you rent a car, drop someone off with the luggage in front of the terminal and then take the car to return. That can be a bit of a long walk with a lot of luggage to carry alone. Once again they did have the $3 rental carts there at the car return. They are some places to eat, basic burgers and pizza. There is a small store that had some Disney items.

Any questions please ask away!

Thanks for the report. We will probably use Vacation Express from Youngstown in the future. The airport in Vienna is only 15 minutes from our house.::yes::

Thanks for the report - we'll be leaving on Friday - my husband just asked me what time we should get to the airport - now I have an answer.

Thanks for the review Myrider, puts my mind at ease! There will be 11 of us and we will be renting a car at Budget, did you happen to notice where that was located? We intend to only use the van till we change from RPR to ASmu and drop it off at DoubleTree at DTD. Thanks again for taking the time to post and the directions come in handy also! :teeth:

Budget was right near Dollar, all the on site rental counters were near each other

It sounds very easy, thanks again for taking the time reply! I can't wait for August! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks for the review.

We took USairways this past week. Although my only complaint with they've always run out of meals for purchase by row 20!

I'm looking forward to a nonstop flight. I have friends who just flew into Sanford on Southeast out of Allentown and they described the drive as long and the tolls as around $8.

My mom told me about the intoxicated pilot. Not very good press that is for sure but the upside is everyone will now be watching the pilots closely. Trying to look on the bright side.:)

Hope you had a lovely trip to WDW!!

Me and my spousal unit just returned from a Mother's Day long weekend at WDW. Flew down from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Vacation Express. The stewardesses were extremely nice to everyone. No major negative comments on the airline or Sanford Airport, although the seats were a little tight. People at Alamo could have been nicer! My recommendation leaving Sanford Airport is make a right hand turn on (sorry forgot the name of the Boulevard) I think it was airport boulevard and stay on this road for 8-9 miles. It will bring you directly to Interstate 4 with no tolls, head west for about 40 minutes and you'll be at WDW.

Superman, I believe it is Lake Mary Blvd that you turn on.
