Vacation Club Resorts?

I'm confused! The last time I went to Disney World was 10 years ago. We always stayed at resorts that were classified as Home Away from Home resorts. Now I notice that all of those resorts are now classified as Disney Vacation Club Resorts. Does this mean that I have to be a member of Disney's Vacation Club in order to stay there?

No, they usually have some rooms available to the general public via CRO. DVC retains some rooms and rents them, plus when a member trades out there are rooms available.

And so to book them, all you would need to call is the regular WDW number.

Basically, nothing has changed from 10 years ago (other than the prices have gone up) other than WDW tried to minimize the confusion. The "HAFH" name made it seem like there were separate entities - Home Away from Home Villas, and Vacation Club villas - where in reality they were one and the same.

I think Fort Wilderness is also classified as a 'home away from home' but is not part of the DVC.

Except for the Fort Wilderness cabins, you can check out the DVC forum here at the DIS. There is even asection for members who want to rent their points out to non-members. It is cheaper than paying rack rate .

If you are considering a trip back to WDW I would check out the DVC discussion board on this site where members rent out their points. We are renting points from a DVC member and staying at a studio villa at Wilderness Lodge at the beginning of December for $120.00 a night, where we payed $250 a night :earseek: in June for a room at the Wilderness Lodge, booked through Disney themself. Just a thought.
