Any one in the Disney Vacation Club ? Are there any plans that would be worth the money for one trip per year ?

Thanks

We 've been members for 2 years. I'm not sure if I understand your question but we certainly feel like it was well worth the expense. For more info you might try posting on the DVC board before we bought it was great for getting honest responses and all kinds of details!!!!

What is normally said is that if you plan to go at least once every 2 years and stay in the villas then it is worth it. So if you take a trip every year then you should be fine. As SnowWitch said try the DVC board. There are a lot of really helpful people there.

We're DVC members....the way I think of it, basically our membership enables us to stay in a large 2BR for about a little less than what it would cost us to stay in a standard room in a moderate resort. We spent about $15,000 for the membership two years ago, and we pay $78/month in points, and that gets us enough points to stay in a 2BR at Boardwalk Villas for about 1 week every June. Some people make better use of their points than we do (e.g. avoid weekends when points are higher and stay in smaller rooms.) For our family of 5 though, having the 2BR truly makes it a vacation. I hate sleeping in the same room as my young kids.....they go to bed early and are easily awakened by my husband's snoring. Also, the DVC units have in-unit Washers/Dryers and the 1BRs and 2BRs have fully equipped kitchens enabling us to save lots of money on meals and snacks. We don't make big meals, but it sure is nice not to be able to give the kids some inexpensive breakfasts and lunches. As the other posters noted, there's lots of good info on the DVC board.

Hi markm0926! And Welcome to the DIS!!!

I think that you can get a lot more answers to this question on our DVC Board, so I am going to move it over there.

:)

Hi Mark,
I think it depends where you like to stay.
If you want to stay in deluxe accomodations, I think it's well worth it. If you like to look for deals on All Stars, it will take a while before you make up your inital payment.
That said... All Stars and DVC are like apples and oranges. I would compare it more with Wilderness lodge, Poly, etc. Maybe not quite GF but almost.
I think people could give you a better answer if you tell more about your travel history or future plans.
