What a great film; I highly recommend it. The story was great and the similarities between current events and fictional events made it that much more interesting.

Plus, I just taught my Brit Lit students about the real life events portrayed in the film - what a coincidence.

Thanks, Sirius.

DH is a huge graphic novel fan, and is really wanting to see this one. He's been on a bit of a roll lately, and in the last month, we've seen "Road to Perdition" and "The History of Violence", and re-watched "Batman Begins" . . . all movies adapted from graphic novels.

How does the movie compare to the book?

My son and I saw it this weekend. You never see Hugo Weaving's face behind the mask, but he is terrific, as is everyone else in the film. I never read the book but the movie rocked!!!

The movie seletion at the theaters has been poor this year. This one I am actually very interested in seeing. Glad to hear some good reviews.

Not a lot of people realize that Hugo Weaving was Elrond, the leader of the Elfen beings, in LOTR.

He was also Agent Smith in The Matirx movies.

Quietly (or not so quietly) becoming a cult movie star.

:cool2:

This was a great movie! You can tell a movie is good when the entire theater is ABSOLUTELY SILENT during it's showing. People were glued to the screen because the plot was so mesmerizing. I loved it, and would certainly see it again.

I just got back from viewing "V for Vendetta". Certainly very thought provoking. I found some of it a bit heavy-handed. For example, the Sutler portayal was borderline over the top, but then again it is based on a -ahem -graphic novel. I particularly liked the way the end made me think, although I won't comment on specifics so as not to spoil anything. I give this movie 3 1/2 stars. I would see it again.

ETA: I thought it was a coincidence the movie was released on the third anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war, then I saw the movie... ;)

Remember, there are no coincidences ;)
Anyhoo-loved the film as well. Have seen it several times and find new things to discuss each viewing. It was rivoting to see a film that is thought provoking and discussion inciting--more than just a cgi extravaganza.

i liked it as well, though i thought parts of it were heavy handed.

also, i found myself wondering if it were real life, would anyone really show up at the end??? but perhaps that is the cynic in me.

I really liked this movie as well. I didn't think I was going to, because I usually don't like darker movies, but this really drew me in. Like caitycaity said though, I don't know if anyone really would have shown up. We're discussing this movie in my honors artist class this week, actually. I'll let you guys know if we come up with any brilliant analysis!

If anyone wants to read a review, my boyfriend has a review site at www.movietack.net

Those are pretty much my thoughts on it. It was interesting and the visuals were great, but it went a little over the top at times. Still, it was entertaining and does make you think a little bit.

I liked the movie. I thought the scene near the end was a little bloody; I could have done without that. But otherwise I enjoyed it!

One spoiler question (highlight to read): Okay at the end of the movie, in the crowd, they showed her parents and also the Lesbians. I thought they had been killed? So how were they in the crowd???

My thoughts on your spoiler question (highlight to read) Near the end, the police officer asks Evey who she is (or something like that.) She responds by saying that she is...and then she lists all these people from the past. My guess is that it was trying to give a visual to the idea that V represented all these people who died for something they believed in. They weren't really there, but Evey could see them in those people.

Does that make sense.
