V-Day gifts...

nothing this year.....our whole family is barely recovering from a wicked stomach virus that hit ds8 and ds11 on tue, hit me and ds4 on thursday night and hit dd6 on Friday (in addition to the the strep throat she tested positive for!:sad2:)

So, no time to go get gifts or make anything special. DH had to take off on Friday to take care of me and the kids (a big no-no for a teacher in his district to take off the day before a vacation starts....schools are off here next week for winter recess) and has been running himself ragged doing laundry, scrubbing bathrooms, running kids to the doctors and shopping for ginger ale, gatorade and lysol!

Today we are all feeling a little better, but the kids just looked  when I suggested trying to make a red velvet cake for Vday! So I told them we are all going to celebrate next Saturday with a movie and special dinner. And DH and I will go out to eat one night this week if everyone is feeling better. I was a little sad b/c I didn't get to get him anything, or even a card, or do anything sweet for the kids, but honestly we are all too sick to care. And after this week, I know DH loves us all a lot.......cause its not easy when the mommy is sick, and he's doing a great job!:lovestruc

hubby sent me flowers :) even when he is far away he is a sweetheart :)

My STBX-H left us in October, so no Valentine for me!

However, I bought a set of 3 matching sterling silver rings with a beautiful etched design on the bands and gave two of them to my DDs. Their rings are on silver chains. Mine is on my ring finger. I told them that I know the last few months have been difficult, and that these rings were a promise that the 3 of us would always be a family and always be there for each other. My 9-year old cried. :lovestruc

That is such a sweet gift to give to your daughters. I'm sure those rings will be treasured by them.

My dh got me a card, some chocolate, and a snuggie. I got him a card, some chocolate, and a massage pillow that heats up. I got my ds a small gift bag and filled it with assorted Valentine's Day candy. I also got him a card that plays a song when you open it.

I know there are people who celebrate their love all year and don't do anything on Valentine's Day, but I enjoy giving my family a little something special on this day.

My family enjoys celebrating holidays... even the Halmark ones...

From DF I received a Disney card and a beautiful ruby/diamond pendant necklace :lovestruc

From DS - card and i-tunes gift card :thumbsup2

I got DF an electric razor that I knew he wanted, DVD, and chocolate from my business trip to Europe :thumbsup2

I got DS - lego set only available in Europe (he thinks his mom is cool :cool1:), and chocolate.

My BF got me some roses.

I got him a bag full of his favorite candy and doughnuts and other junk food. I have been on a diet forever and he follows along with me so I don't feel bad, so I thought it was about time he could eat what he wanted.

What a wonderful gift.

I told DH not to bother with Valentine's this year since we have a kid in college and a trip to WDW in March. We did exchange cards and went out to breakfast. I'm making him his favorite dinner. We're both quite content with our quiet Valentine's Day.

Always enjoy reading about your Valentine gifts, also how you and yours celebrated! :grouphug:

That is the sweetest promise gift! Your DD’s will cherish this all their lives!

I got this...

...but that's because I cut out the ad for it a couple weeks back and left it on dh's desk..:rolleyes1

But it has to be exchanged as my right hand finger is bigger than my left - we went by my wedding ring size. :(

I found my dh a funny card and gave him some jelly bellies. He gave me the ring and made a funny card. He gave dd11 a heart-shaped box of candy and I gave her a pair of TOM's shoes - Make Art Not War - and we told ds15 he could get a book he wanted.

As a family we hope to go out for Japanese food later...

Jill

It's been a very fun and busy week-end and nice to get out and about from all our snow! :flower3:

DH and I like to do something special on Valentine's Day, so we used our GC's from kids to Ruth’s Chris in Va. for dinner. I had yummy filet mignon w/shrimp and DH had salmon. Restaurant was on the 11th floor and we had a window table w/a great view :goodvibes. Everything was absolutely delicious incl desserts! After dinner we went to see Avatar. DH had seen it with grandsons, but I was anxious to see it also...loved it...scenery was beautuiful!! :thumbsup2

Altho we show our love every day, our family has always enjoyed celebrating St. Valentine’s Day! Our adult kids gave us unique matching coffee mugs w/our ‘Lucky 13’ grands collage pix, sweet grands gave us different types of candy, cards, flower boquet and some darling hand made things :lovestruc. Got my Mom her fave perfume and a box of heart candy, our DD’s and DIL ‘P.S. I love You’ sets from Body and Bath and the SonIL’s eclairs from their fave bakery, also took the local grands out for tacos last night.
Our thoughtful DS brought all the girls in our family beautiful Lapis stone jewelry boxes from AFG. We had visited our out of state grands last week and celebrated V.Day with them while there. :goodvibes

Friday night while out shopping I told Dh no chocolates(I am trying to cut back)and now flowers please, they don't last long in our house. But I did find a nice, Fake Guess purse for only $20.00 and I just love thats what I got.
