You need to make reservations for this through Group reservations and not the regular dining.
We ate at the Chef's Table in Jan 2002. You need to make reservations 6 months in advance as there is only 1 table there at a time. We called 4 months in advance and only 1 night was available for the time we were going to be there.
There are 2 days a week that the table isn't available. I believe it's Wed and Fridays but double check on that. These days are reserved for the Chef to invite anyone he would like. Whether it be a VIP, friends other visiting chefs, etc. If they don't need the table they will open it up but I don't know how many days in advance they let you know.
You can also be put on a waiting list if the day you want is not available.
We thought the meal was wonderful and the service was outstanding. My husband ordered the wine pairing and they are not stingy with the wine at all. Be careful though or you will walk out of there tipsy.
I had a split of Moet and Chandon but I could have done without it as at the Chef's table they open a bottle of champagne for you. I thought it was just one glass for a toast with the chef but they just keep refilling the glass. So I could have just had that.
If you are looking for romantic don't do the Chef's table. The dining room is way more romantic.
We did it once but next time we go we will just be in the dining room.
I want to point out that my husband is a chef so being in the kitchen and watching them prepare the food and cook it was no big deal to us as we know what it's like "behind the scenes" at a restaurant. That may have been the reason we were unimpressed with sitting at the Chef's table. Everything else was wonderful.
I didn't want to do the Chef's table because of this but he wanted to try it.
